October 06 The Government Forces on Saturday launched a cordon and search operation in Mattan area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday, the forces including 1 RR of Indian Army sealed all the entry and exit points to the area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Islamabad (Anantnag) locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Contestants Apologize Publicly in Jamia Masjid Islamabad for Filling Nomination Papers for Polls

October 05 on Friday, Six Candidates publicly apologized in the Jamia Masjid of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district for filling the nomination papers for contesting in the Urban Local Body Polls. The Kashmiriyat has been informed that six candidates named Abdul Rahid Sofi, Khurshid Ahmed, Muzammil Rashid, Infas Rafiq, Asif Mushtaq, Mohammed Asif Bhat have written letters of Jamia Masjid Islamabad apologizing to the Public of the District. The preacher at Jamia Masjid Islamabad of South Kashmir asked people to forgive the six contestants who had recently filled nomination forms for the upcoming ULB Polls scheduled to start on the 08th day of October. All the six contestants are from the Islamabad (Anantnag) township of South Kashmir.

Unknown Persons Set Ablaze the Crops of BJP Candidate from South Kashmir

October 04 Unknown persons set ablaze the crops of BJP Member and Urban Local bodies election contestant, Gul Mohammed Khan at Mandipora in Dooru area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons late night on Wednesday barged into the field of a BJP candidate in Dooru area and burnt down his harvest. Police later reached the spot, however the persons had fled from the spot.

BJP Candidates Trying to Withdraw From Polls Abducted by Police, Allege Families

October 03 The Relatives of BJP Candidates from Pahalgam constituency on Wednesday protested in courtyard of DC office Anantnag alleging that candidates have been ‘abducted by police’ on the behest of BJP MLC Mohd Yousuf Sofi ‘fearing withdrawal from polls’. Various relatives of the candidates shouted anti BJP slogans and said that their relatives were ‘forced to submit forms to fight panchayat polls’. “Our families rejected their panchayat poll participation and so they were to withdraw forms today but yesterday they were called to come to police station,” a relative said, adding that they were told that they have to put their signatures on paper for withdrawal in presence of high police officials. At least Three Injured During Ongoing Clashes in Kulgam Area

September 29 At least three people have sustained injuries during the ongoing clashes that began early morning in the Quimoh belt of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. The Government Forces fired tear smoke shells, pellets and bullets on the protesting youth as they were demanding the removal of an Army camp established recently in the Redwani Bala area of Quimoh. September 29 The Dooru and Verinag areas are observing a complete shutdown on Saturday against the killing of a Local Militant, Asif Ahmed Malik on Thursday in a gunfight with Government Forces. Locals informed The Kashmiriyat that the area is observing a shutdown for the third consecutive day to mourn the killing of a local Militant as Shops, Business establishments are shut and streets are heavily deserted.
