Bhang Cultivation Destroyed in Islamabad (Anantnag) District

August 26 Peer Imtiyaz After getting specific inputs about its cultivation in various villages of Chitergul in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) a joint team including Tehsildar Shangas, SHO Uttersoo & employees of Excise department on Sunday conducted the drive against the Charas /Bang cultivation & destroyed it with latest tools. The Tehsildar Shangas Zahid Ahmed speaking to The Kashmiriyat advised the people of Chaklipora, Kachmula & Brariangan to destroy the cultivation of Charas/Bang by their own otherwise they will be charged under law. He also appealed to the civil society to play a vital role in destroying the cultivation of Charas/Bhang to make our society Charas free.

CASO Launched in Moominabad Islamabad (Anantnag)

ISLAMABAD
August 26 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Moominabad locality of Ashajipora area in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that Late afternoon on Sunday, the forces including 19 RR of Indian Army, 40 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police launched a search operation at the Moominabad area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Islamabad town locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Forces Vandalize the House of Lashkar Commander

August 26 The Government Forces during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday raided the house of Lashkar e Taiba commander, Azad Malik alias Dada in the Arwani area in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Family of this Lashkar e Taiba commander alleged that the forces barged into the house of Azad Malik and vandalized the property. "They barged into the area and we thought it was a night raid, but they directly barged into the house of Dada and ransacked the household items," a local from Arwani told The Kashmiriyat. Locals Appeal Police, Muncipal Council to Destroy Bhang Cultivation in Kokernag

August 25 Sheikh Nadeem The Locals of Kokernag have asked the Municipal Committee of Kokernag to launch a drive against Bhang Cultivation in the area and said that the locals will support the initiative. In a conversation with The Kashmiriyat, a local from Kokernag have said "Cultivating, growing, supplying & consuming Charas is an offence & condemnable under law." They said that that is the duty & responsibility of government agencies to check its growth & supply but Municipal Committee Kokernag is negligent where Charas is vigorously growing on road sides of Srinagar-Kishtiwar National Highway near famous market of health resort Kokernag. Gunfight Stops, One Body Recovered So Far, Police

August 24 One Militant body has been recovered so far from the encounter site at Khatana Mohallah in Godal area of South Kashmir's Kokernag area on Friday. Police officials informed The Kashmiriyat that after a massive exchange of gunfire, the firing has stopped now and the forces are jointly conducting search operations in there. "One body has been recovered so far, but the forces are still searching the area, as more bodies are believed to be under the rubble,"a police official posted in Koernag told The Kashmiriyat. August 24 A massive gunfight that was underway in the Khatana Mohallah of Gadool locality of Kokernag belt in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district since Friday morning has come to an end. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 19RR, Jammu Kashmir Police and 164 BN of CRPF jointly raided a hideout of Militants in the area, following specific input about Militant Presence in the hideout. August 22 Government Forces barged inside the Eid Gah of Islamabad with their vehicles and fired tear smoke shells inside the historical Eid Gah here. Many tear smoke shells landed inside the space reserved for women, eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat. Paramilitary troopers had also sealed the entry and exit ways to Eid gah on the main road that connects rest of the District to the Eid Gah. Eid Prayers to be offered at Islamabad Eid Gah at 9:30 am

August 20 The Jamia Masjid Auqaf committee met early morning today and after threadbare discussion it was decided that the prayer timings for Eid ul Adha at Eid Gah janglat Mandi will be 9:30 am. The Members unanimously asked people to offer Eid Prayers at Eid Gah, Hanfiya (Janglat Mandi) which will be offered at 9:30 am accurately. They also said that Mirwaiz South Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed yasir will start his Eid sermon by 8:30 am. "Special and separate arrangements have been made for women also," a Member of the Jamia Masjid Auqaf Committee Islamabad told The Kashmiriyat.
