Firing Stops- Clashes Erupt Near Encounter Site in Kashmir

Clashes erupted as scores of youth hit the streets of Pudshoo in Lukadpora area of South Kashmir that falls between the Pulwama and Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth from Hariwath, Sehpora, Nehama and several adjoining areas hit the streets on Saturday evening as soon as the firing at encounter site stopped. The Forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters, however the clashes were going on when this report was filed. Meanwhile firing has stopped at the encounter site, one Militant has been killed so far, A Police official told The Kashmiriyat. He denied the reports of protests. Mobile Internet services have been Snapped in the region.

Danishwar Hameed A six-year-old boy was mauled to death by a leopard at Manzgam area of Damhal Hanjipora in Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday evening. A Police official confirming the death to The Kashmiriyat said that a boy namely Uman Farooq Baba, son of Farooq Ahmad Baba, was attacked by a leopard in the Mazngam area late on Tuesday evening. "The screams of the boy attracted the attention of the people around, and they rushed to the spot and retrieved the boy from clutches of the leopard in critical conditions>: Uman was rushed to the nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) where doctors declared him brought dead.

The Government forces on Saturday morning found a live hand grenade in the Chawalgam area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district, which was later defused. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the grenade was detected by paramilitary forces (CRPF) esrlt morning in the area, after which a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was rushed to the spot. The device was destroyed without causing any damage, CRPF Assistant Commandant , Gul Junaid Khan, said. He said that grenade was detected by a patrol party of 173 Battalion of CRPF in Chawalgam at morning hours, which was later successfully defused. "Investigations in this regard are underway,” the officer added.

Suspected militants on Saturday afternoon shot dead a police man at Frisal area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir. A Police official said that a head Constable while maning a checkpoint at Frisal area was injured when militants after lobbing a grenade, opened firing indiscriminately. “The injured Policeman was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, but he died on way,” a police official said. A massive manhunt has been launched in the area to nab the attackers.

May 29 An encounter has raged  between militants and Government forces at Tarzoo area of in Mohammad pora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat  that a team of 9 RR, jammu kashmir police and 18 BN of CRPF was fired upon by Militants in the Mohammad pora area, after which the Army retaliated to the firing. The Forces retaliated and the exchange of fire triggering an encounter, Officials told The Kashmiriyat that two to three Militants are believed to be trapped at the site of the encounter, while the firing at the encounter site is still going on.
