An Encounter broke out between government forces and militants at Khur in Damhal Hanjipora area of Kulgam district on Monday morning. The Government forces on Saturday morning found a live hand grenade in the Chawalgam area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district, which was later defused. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the grenade was detected by paramilitary forces (CRPF) esrlt morning in the area, after which a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was rushed to the spot. The device was destroyed without causing any damage, CRPF Assistant Commandant , Gul Junaid Khan, said. He said that grenade was detected by a patrol party of 173 Battalion of CRPF in Chawalgam at morning hours, which was later successfully defused. "Investigations in this regard are underway,” the officer added.

Suspected militants on Saturday afternoon shot dead a police man at Frisal area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir. A Police official said that a head Constable while maning a checkpoint at Frisal area was injured when militants after lobbing a grenade, opened firing indiscriminately. “The injured Policeman was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, but he died on way,” a police official said. A massive manhunt has been launched in the area to nab the attackers.

May 29 An encounter has raged  between militants and Government forces at Tarzoo area of in Mohammad pora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat  that a team of 9 RR, jammu kashmir police and 18 BN of CRPF was fired upon by Militants in the Mohammad pora area, after which the Army retaliated to the firing. The Forces retaliated and the exchange of fire triggering an encounter, Officials told The Kashmiriyat that two to three Militants are believed to be trapped at the site of the encounter, while the firing at the encounter site is still going on. May 29 A few Gunshots have been heard during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Zangalpora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Reports reaching to The Kashmiriyat said that a joint team of Army RR, CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) the area. A police Source Confirmed the incident and said that the cordon was launched following inputs about the Movement of some suspected militants. The searches operation was underway in the village when this report was last filed.

May 22 One unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter with government forces at Gopalpora of kulgam district. Officials confirming the encounter said that a joint team of Government forces including 34 RR and SOG launched search Operation in the area following credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area. As forces intensified search operation towards a suspected spot, militants opened fire triggered encounter. In this exchange of gunfire, one militant has been killed, the official said, adding that, the cordon is still in place as more Militants are believed to be holed up in the area.
