Five Dead Bodies Recovered from Kulgam Encounter Site, Officials

February 10 Dead bodies of five slain Militants have been recovered from the encounter site in Dangerpora area of Kelam in South Kashmir's Kulgam district. An Army official told The Kashmiriyat that five dead bodies were recovered from the encounter site on Sunday noon. He said however the search operations are going on. February 10 Defying strict restrictions, clashes have erupted in Dangerpora area of Kelam in Kulgam district of South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of men and women stormed onto the streets shouting pro Freedom slogans trying to march towards the encounter site. Trying to help, the trapped Militants escape, the locals threw stones of Government Forces. February 10 An Encounter started between militants and Government forces in Dangerpora area of Kelam in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 9 RR of Indian Army, 18 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by Militants during a cordon and search operation in the area. Immediately the troops cordoned off the area during which the holed up Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. Army Rescues Locals, Organizes Relief for Kund Residents in Kulgam

February  08 Kund Bowl witnessed a major spell of snowfall for the past 48 hrs which triggered avalanches during night 7/8 Feb in two villages of Gagarmandu and Antaarnad. Amidst heavy snowfall, The Army organised a relief patrol the same night and reached the affected villages. They reassured the civilians and helped the local villagers whose houses were buried under avalanche to settle their families. Around 35 houses were confirmed to be buried under the avalanche and yet another village was evacuated during the night. Jawahar Tunnel Avalanche- One Policeman Recovered Alive, One Dead Body Found

February 08 One more policemen have been rescued alive and shifted to Qazigund hospital while one body has also been retrieved from the snow avalanche site at Jawahar tunnel on Friday. Officials said efforts are on to trace the seven others at the site. According to SDRF officials two persons have been retrieved alive so far including SPO Gulzar ahmad mir retrieved earlier today. Officials have not released identity of the two persons rescued alive and of the body found yet. Pertinently ten people were missing after an avalanche hit  Jawahar Tunnel on Thursday evening burying ten persons including six policemen, two fire service personnel and two prisoners. However search for other trapped persons is on.

Seven Coaching Centres Sealed in Kulgam District

February 05 Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Hassan Sheikh today sealed seven unauthorised coaching/private tuition centres. Accompanied by Tehsildar kulgam and AD planning of CEO office, the team pulled down the banners and sealed the offices of these tuition centers with a stern warning to the owners to avoid operation of private tuition centers till all the formalities including registration are granted to them. The ADC said that nobody will be allowed to flout the government order setting conditions for grant of registration to the tuition centers. February 04 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Tarigam area of  South Kashmir's Kulgam district. On Monday, the forces including  RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Tarigam area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Kulgam locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Grenade Attack on Police Station in Kulgam Area

January 19 Suspected Militants hurled a towards a Police station in Yaripora area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons on Saturday evening hurled a grenade towards a the Police station located in Yaripora area of Kulgam. As per initial reports, nobody has been injured in the attack. The Government Forces launched a Cordon and Search operation in the area. Earlier on Friday, three grenade attacks took place in the Kashmir valley.

Lashkar e Taiba Militant Arrested in Kulgam, Claims Police

January 17 Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba militant during naka in south Kashmir’s Kulgam. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that based on specific input a naka was laid at Chilan area of Kulgam. During naka checking a Lashkar-e-Taiba militant was apprehended. A police official confirmed this news. He said that the identity of the apprehended militant is being ascertained.
