Forces Launch CASO in Redwani Area of Kulgam

January 11 Continuing their stiff Anti Militancy operations, the Government Forces on Friday launched a Cordon and Search operation in Kulgam's Redwani Bala area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. The Kashmiriyat has been informed that Forces including Indian Army's 1 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu Kashmir Police in Large contingents reached the Redwani area in Quimoh and laid a siege around the area.   The cordon has been laid following an input about Militant movement, however prior to this the forces blocked all the alleys leading to the area. The forces had started searching houses in the area as this report was filed. (The Kashmiriyat)

Couple arrested in Qazigund with 10 Kilo Drugs

January 07 Murtaza Gull The Jammu Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a cople in Qazigund for peddling drugs. They said that a couple was arrested during a patrolling at Mirbazar area and recovered contraband substance from their possession. The accused has been identified as Sabzar Ahmad Rather @Raja, a resident of Mallipora Devsar in Kulgam District, the Police said, adding that 10 kilograms of poppy straw has been from their possession. The Police has registered a case under FIR NO 02/2019 and initiated investigations in the matter.

Government Forces Lay Siege at Kulgam Village

January 04 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Kangukullah area of Yaripora in South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Rabid Dog Bites Five Persons in South Kashmir Area

December 02 Umaisar Gull  At least five people were injured after being attacked by a rabid dog in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s on Wednesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a rabid dog appeared in Nagrus area of Kund in Qazigund belt on Wednesday and attacked as many as five persons in the area. The injured persons were rushed to local hospital for treatment, Officials at the hospital while speaking to The Kashmiriyat stated the condition of the injured to be stable. Pertinently, the Kashmir valley as per Government stats saw a total of 20098 dog bite cases in 2017.

Kulgam Shuts Against Frequent Power Cuts

December 27 Danish Hameed The Kulgam township in South Kashmir is observing a shutdown on Thursday against frequent power cuts in this South Kashmir district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that shops and other business establishments are shut in the area while vehicular movement is very thin. The call for shutdown has been called by People's Welfare committee of District Kulgam who also held a protest early morning against the Power Development Department. December 15 A complete shutdown is being observed in South Kashmir including main towns of Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Islamabad (Anantnag) against the killing of seven civilians and three Militants in Sirnoo area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that scores of protesters hit the streets in Islamabad township of South Kashmir as the news of killing of seven civilians reached the area, protests also erupted in Sopore, Srinagar areas. Owner of the house where nine Kashmiris were killed in October found Dead

December 11 The bullet ridden body of Sheeraz Ahmed Bhat (Czak) has been found in Awahatoo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district early morning on Tuesday. Pertinently Sheeraz Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammed Bhat was abducted by unknown gunmen from the Laroo area after they barged inside his house in the Laroo Kulgam area on October 27. His body was found early morning in the Awahatoo area in Kulgam after which locals called the Police. Sheeraz who was kidnapped by the unknown gunmen on 27 October is the owner of the house where three Militants were killed in an encounter with Government Forces on 21 October, 7 Civilians were also killed.
