Massive CASO Launched in Quimoh Area

December 03 The Government Forces on Monday morning launched a cordon and search operation in Makdampora of Quimoh area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the forces including 1 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police sealed all the entry and exit points to the area. A heavy contingent of forces reached this locality and are conducting a search operation in the area, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. A search operation was going on when this report was being filed. An official however denied that cordon had been placed in the area. "It is a deployment as an officer is visiting the area," he said. (The Kashmiriyat)

Teacher who asked Students not to Throw Stones Booked for Inciting Violence in Kulgam

November 29 A teacher posted in Government Degree College in Kulgam identified as Abdul Bari has been booked for inciting violence in the college campus by the Jammu Kashmir Police. In August forces entered the premises of Government Degree College in Kulgam and fired tear smoke shells inside the college premises after which the students threw at the Government Forces. Abdul Bari who is a resident of Czadder area in Kulgam according to eyewitnesses intervened and managed to control the students and disperse them away from the spot after which the students left the college. November 26 Sheeraz Ahmed Bhat (Czak) who had been abducted by unknown gunmen on October 27 has not still returned home even after nearly a month. The SHRC has issued a notice to the Deputy commissioner Kulgam asking them to file detailed compliance report before the commission with regard to the mysterious disappearance of  Sheeraz Ahmad Bhat. Pertinently Sheeraz Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammed Bhat was abducted by unknown gunmen from the Laroo area after they barged inside his house in the Laroo Kulgam area. November 24 The Southern part of Kashmir including Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian and Islamabad has shut down for the second day to mourn the Killing of Six MIlitants in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir on Friday. The Islamabad (Anantnag) district and Pulwama, Kulgam Areas shut spontaneously as the news of the encounter spread in the area The Kashmiriyat was informed that traffic is off the roads, while business establishments are also shut. The Government has also suspended classwork in educational institutes while as railway services have also been suspended. Hundreds of people are still visiting the houses of Slain Militants and civilians in Islamabad (Anantnag) District of South Kashmir.

Azad Malik Among Militants Killed in Bijbehara Encounter

November 23 A Top commander of Lashkar e Taiba, Azad Malik alias Dada of Arwani area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district has been killed in the encounter that raged early morning in Sekpora area of Bijbehara. Top Sources told The Kashmiriyat that among the six killed two were over ground workers OGWs of Militants from South Kashmir, They said that the six were affiliates of Militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba. People in large numbers have gathered outside the residence of Basit Mir, who had joined Militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba in August. Basit is a resident of Pushwara locality in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag). Four more Militants have been killed in the encounter.
