Nocturnal Gunfight Erupts in Kulgam Area

November 27 An encounter has started between Militants and Government Forces in the Redwani Bala area of Quimoh belt in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district District. An Official told The Kashmiriyat that 1 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation late night on Monday. Earlier Forces had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. Owner of Laroo House where Nine Kashmiris were Killed Still Missing

November 26 Sheeraz Ahmed Bhat (Czak) who had been abducted by unknown gunmen on October 27 has not still returned home even after nearly a month. The SHRC has issued a notice to the Deputy commissioner Kulgam asking them to file detailed compliance report before the commission with regard to the mysterious disappearance of  Sheeraz Ahmad Bhat. Pertinently Sheeraz Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammed Bhat was abducted by unknown gunmen from the Laroo area after they barged inside his house in the Laroo Kulgam area. Sheeraz who was kidnapped by the unknown gunmen on 27 October is the owner of the house where three Militants were killed in an encounter with Government Forces on 21 October, 7 Civilians were also killed. South Kashmir Mourns Militant Killings- Shuts Down

November 24 The Southern part of Kashmir including Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian and Islamabad has shut down for the second day to mourn the Killing of Six MIlitants in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir on Friday. The Islamabad (Anantnag) district and Pulwama, Kulgam Areas shut spontaneously as the news of the encounter spread in the area The Kashmiriyat was informed that traffic is off the roads, while business establishments are also shut. The Government has also suspended classwork in educational institutes while as railway services have also been suspended. Hundreds of people are still visiting the houses of Slain Militants and civilians in Islamabad (Anantnag) District of South Kashmir.

Thousands Attend Funeral of Slain Militants, Militants Offer Gun Salute

November 23 Thousands of people on Friday reached Arwani and Pushwara Localities of Islamabad (Anantnag) district to participate in the funeral prayers of a local Lashkar e Taiba militants who were killed in an encounter with Government Forces in Bijbehara belt of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that thousands of people defying the cold thronged the native of Azad Ahmed Malik in Arwani to attend the funeral of the slain Militant. Azad Malik Among Militants Killed in Bijbehara Encounter

November 23 A Top commander of Lashkar e Taiba, Azad Malik alias Dada of Arwani area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district has been killed in the encounter that raged early morning in Sekpora area of Bijbehara. Top Sources told The Kashmiriyat that among the six killed two were over ground workers OGWs of Militants from South Kashmir, They said that the six were affiliates of Militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba. People in large numbers have gathered outside the residence of Basit Mir, who had joined Militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba in August. Basit is a resident of Pushwara locality in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag). Four more Militants have been killed in the encounter.

A heavy contingent of forces reached this Kulgam locality and are conducting a search operation in the area, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. Militants Attack Army Camp in Khudwani, Lady Injured

November 22 Suspected Militants on Thursday attacked a camp of Indian Army in the Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Militants fired shots towards the camp of 1 RR at Khudwani, however the Army men posted at the camp fired retaliatory shots. This prompted the Attackers to escape the spot. As per initial reports one lady identified as Muskan Jan, a resident of Wanigund was injured in the exchange of Gunfire. Brother of Five Sisters Arrested in Kulgam

November 15 Zafar Dar A B. Pharma Student, Mudasir Ahmed Itoo son of Ghulam Qadir Itoo who was pursuing B.Phama from a college in Delhi was picked up by Government forces during an nocturnal raid on 8 November. The 18 year old who had come home during  his holidays from the Delhi college was arrested when Government forces raided his house in the Qaimoh locality of South Kashmir's Kulgam district.
