Road Accident in Pahalgam- Three Members of a Family Injured

KULGAM
August 14 Three members of a family were injured on Tuesday, when the vehicle they were travelling in, skidded off the road and plunged into Lidder River near Langanbal area of Pahalgam in South Kashmir. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the vehicle on way to Pahalgam skidded off the road and rolled into the Lidder River. All the injured persons were rescued by police and shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment. The SHO of the Pahalgam area confirmed the incident to The Kashmiriyat and said that all family members are stable.

One Youth Arrested During Nocturnal Raid in South Kashmir Area

August 13 The Government forces raided the Ghat Redwani Locality in Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district and arrested a youth during the intervening night of Sunday and Saturday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that one person has been arrested in the Khudwani locality when forces raided the Ghat Village around 1230 in the night. They identified the youth as Aadil Ahmed Lon son of Muzaffar Ahmed Lone and said the Forces including Jammu Kashmir Police barged inside the house of the youth and took him into detention. The Khudwani belt has been worst hit by unabated arrests in South Kashmir, unofficial estimates suggest that as many as fifty youth from the Quimoh belt have been arrested in the current year and most of them are still behind bars. August 11 The Government forces raided the Rehpora Locality in Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district and arrested youths during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that at least five youths have been arrested in the Khudwani locality when forces raided the Rehpora Village around 1230 in the night. They identified some of the youth as Junaid, Uzair, Ayaz Ahmed, Danish and said the Forces including Jammu Kashmir Police barged inside the houses of the youth and took them into detention. Intense Clashes Erupt in Kulgam Area, At least Three Injured

August 10 Massive clashes erupted in Paniwa area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District late night on Friday when Youth threw stones on vehicles of Government Forces passing through the area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that scores of youth threw stones on vehicles of Government Forces as they passed through the area. The Government Forces in retaliation fired tear smoke Shells in retaliation to disperse the protesters. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that at least three youth have been injured in the massive clashes, while two of them has been shifted to District hospital in Kulgam. Cleanliness Drive Launched in Kulgam District

August 10 The Block Development Officer Pahloo Kulgam, Javid Ahmad Sheikh on Friday initiated the 'Road and Public places cleaning drive'. The drive was started at Arigutnoo Block of Kulgam District in South Kashmir and during the day long exercise, Cow dung and other wastes along Road sides were removed  using bulldozers and Tractors. The inhabitants of the area provided full cooperation in this endeavor and also resolved to keep their surroundings clean henceforth. The local people have thanked the Rural Development Department for initiating this action and have expected that such exercises be continued in future as well.

August 09 A Cordon and Search Operation has been launched in Kadair area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Wednesday night. Government Forces including RR of Indian Army and launched a joint Anti Militancy operation in the area following specific input about Militant presence in the area. Locals said that a heavy contingent of Forces have reached the area and are conducting a search operation in the area. August 04 The desilting/ clearance of structures (SR & Clarifloculator) of Water Supply service Islamabad (Anantnag) (old) which was earlier scheduled to be carried out on 4th & 5th shall now take place on 7th and 8th of August. Officials informed The Kashmiriyat that the process will cause non-availability of drinking water supply for 3 days in areas namely Shirpora, Kadipora - Sarnal, Iqbalabad, Anchidoora, SK Colony, Mattan, Krangsoo(partly), Ashajipora, Danter, Donipawa, Khandipari, TB Shah, Batengoo and rest of the town areas will receive low service level. In the view of the same, the general public has been requested to Store enough drinking water before hand and make judicious use of it.
