Bear Attacks a Man in Kulgam

July 18 One Person was wounded in a bear attack at Nadimarg area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Wednesday morning. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that one person identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Bhat from nandimar was attacked by a bear when he was leaving for work early morning today. Locals managed to help Shahnawaz but not before he had been severely injured by the animal. He was immediately rushed to the Damhal Hanjipora hospital from where he was referred to District hospital kulgam. The Doctors at Kulgam District hospital told The Kashmiriyat that Shahnawaz is recovering from his injuries and is stable now. People from the area alleged that the wildlife department is not providing any assistance as the wild animals are roaming about freely.

CASO Launched in Quimoh, Clashes Erupt

July 17 Massive clashes have erupted during a Cordon and search operation in Astan Mohallah of Quimoh area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Tuesday. The Government forces have launched a siege around the area post which scores of youth shouting pro freedom slogans hit the streets. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 1 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF laid down the Search operation jointly. "The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area," Sources said. A Door to door search operation has been launched in the area.

Tyre Blast Creates Panic in Kulgam Area

July 16 One person was critically wounded in a tyre blast at Damhal Hanjipora Area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district late night on Monday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the tyre blast created panic in the area and many locals ran for cover after the blast sound. July 01 Suspected Militants on Friday attacked Jammu Kashmir Police post in Yaipora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the Police station in the area, however nobody was injured in the attack. July 11 A Few gunshots were heard during a Cordon and Search Operation launched in Tulinowpora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Earlier, Following specific input about Militant movement in Tuli Nowpora area of Kulgam, the government forces had laid a siege in the area. The Anti Militancy cordon and search operation is being jointly conducted by RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir police. The troops have initiated a search operation post blocking all the entry and exit points to the Tuli Nowpora area. The search operation was going on when this report was filed.

July 10 Intense Stone throwing Clashes erupted in Laroo, Kulgam Town, Devsar areas of Kulgam District on Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that scores of youth shouting pro Freedom and Pro Islam Slogans came out on the streets in the areas. Pertinently Kulgam is observing shutdown for the fourth straight day against the killing of three civilians including a teenage girl by Forces on Saturday. Militants Offer Gun Salute to Kulgam Civilians

July 07 Militants on Saturday appeared in Redwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District and offered Gun salute to the slain civilians, eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat. Eyewitnesses said that militants in a group of five to seven appeared in Redwani and fired in the air to offer gun salute to the slain civilians. Three youth including a 16 year old girl who were shot dead by Government Forces hailed from the Redwani area and their dead bodies have reached home. The youth were killed when Government Forces laid a siege around the Hawoora area and Youth in large numbers hit the streets pelting stones on Government Forces.
