Module involved in the killing of Kulgam Sarpanch busted; 3 arrested: Police

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Monday said that it busted the module involved in the killing of a Sarpanch in Kulgam. On 11 March (Friday), suspected militants fired at a Sarpanch, Shabir Ahmad Mir, in Kulgam district’s Audoora area. Mir was rushed to a nearby hospital but did not survive the bullet injuries. The Police said that it has busted a militant module of proscribed militant outfit HM involved in the recent killing of Sarpanch Shabir Ahmad Mir & arrested three militant associates actively involved in the killing. They said that Police recovered incriminating materials including 02 Pistols on their disclosure. "Vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized. Wife killed, Husband critically injured in road accident in Kulgam

Danishwar Hameed One woman died in a road accident in Pahloo area of Kulgam district. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday, an oil tanker crashed into a two-wheeler bearing the number JK04c 3988 in the Pahloo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district, causing injuries to a husband and wife. The woman named Beauty Jan, who was a resident of Khargund, Czowgam in Kulgam was declared dead upon her arrival at the hospital. Her husband, Ishtiyaq Ahmed Shiekh s/o Bashir Ahmed Shiekh suffered critical injuries and is being treated at District Hospital Kulgam. The Police has registered a case in this regard and launched an investigation into the incident.

A Panchayat ghar was gutted in a mysterious blaze that broke out in Damhal Hanjipora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam on Wednesday evening, official sources said. Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a fire broke out in a Panchayat Ghar at Hariweth in Kulgam. Fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot from different parts to douse the flames. Meanwhile, Police team also rushed to the spot, sources said, adding that the cause of the fire was not known. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Sunday said electricity in Kulgam district will be restored within few hours. Bhat while talking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that men and machinery are on job and almost entire work has been completed. He said that within one to two hours electricity is being restored in the district. Amid heavy snowfall, district administration Kulgam on Wednesday rescued six family members in Tangmarg Aharbal area after their house got damaged. Tehsildar Damhal Hanjipora, Niyaz Ahmad Bhat speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the family of Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh son of Karim Sheikh, a resident of Tangmarg was rescued by our team after their roof of house got damaged. Danishwar Hameed Joint Forces launched a massive cordon and search operation (CASO) in two villages of the Kulgam district in south Kashmir. An official said that the operation on Friday was launched jointly by forces including RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and CRPF following inputs about the movement of militants in the Kakran Pombay and Katrasoo areas of Kulgam. He said that the operation was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in these areas. The search operations in both areas were going on when this report was being filed.
