IED found in Litter Pulwama, BDS on Job

SOUTH KASHMIR
An Improvised explosive device was found by police in Litter area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Thrusday, officials said. They said the the IED was detected on the road side following which a bomb disposal squad was rushed to the area. When this report was filed Police and BDS have already reached to the spot to assess it. Meanwhile a top police officer also confirmed to GNS about the recovery of an IED.(GNS)

Blood Donation camp organised in Anantnag in memory of Dr. Qazi Nisar

On the world blood donor's Day, A blood donation camp was organised in Anantnag town of south Kashmir in the memory of slain Mirwaiz of south Kashmir, Dr. Qazi Nisar. In a press release, Idara Tehiqaqat e Islami said, the blood donation camp was organized by Khair e Aam trust, it's charitable wing, under the banner of Shaheed e Ummat blood bank for the needy patients. Organized by Khair e Aam Trust managed Shaheed e Ummat Blood Bank, nearly fifty volunteers donated blood for the needy patients. The blood will then be donated to various hospitals in south Kashmir where it is donated to the patients in need. Two Persons held with pistol and other ammunition in Anantnag: Police

Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two persons along with arms and ammunition in Dooru area of Southern Kashmir’s Anantnag district. In a statement issued to GNS, the police said that police in Anantnag have arrested two persons identified as Rahil Ahmed Malik son of Gulzar Ahmed Malik and Shabir Ahmed Rather son of Ghulam Hassan Rather, both residents of Mehmodabad at a checkpoint established at Khudahmam Dooru. The statement further stated that incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 1 Pistol, 1 Magazine and 11 Pistol rounds have been recovered from their possession. In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 51/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Dooru and further investigation initiated, reads the statement.(GNS)

Massive fire broke out on Saturday evening at Darul uloom Kandimarg Kokernag of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that at around 5:30 pm, flames started from the roof and spread to the two-storey building. Meanwhile, fire tenders have rushed to the spot and are trying to bring the fire under control.

Kishtwar seminary student drowns in South Kashmir

A student from a seminary drowned while enjoying the watera of Bringe nallah in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The victim as per reports was a student of Darul Aloom Sautul Awliya. Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that students from seminary had gone for a picnic where the 21-year-old student drowned to death at Bringi Nallah near Nowgam Anantnag. The victim has been identified as Tawseef Ahmed Laway son of Abdul Majeed, a resident of Doda Kishtwar. The body of the deceased was not retrieved till the filing of this story. (KNT)

Danishwar Hameed The locals from the Kulgam township in south Kashmir are living under darkness as electricity has been snapped off in the area. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, Locals from Kulgam town said that on Thursday three electric poles were damaged in the town after strong winds after which electricity was snapped in the area. "Since then, the residents have been waiting for the electricity to restored, however, as of now the department has failed to restored electricity in the township," they said. Appealing the officials to restore the electricity immediately, the locals said that they are facing hardships due to the non-availability of electricity in the Town-A division of Kulgam. A 17-year-old girl was killed after hit by an School bus in Grend Ashmuqam area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Thursday. Official sources told GNS that the accident took place near Grend Ashmuqam this Afternoon. Soon after hit by the School bus, the girl identified as Shafia Jan Daughter of Ab Rasheed Bhat of Grend Ashmuqam was immediately shifted to PHC Ashmuqam for treatment. A 73-year-old person was killed after hit by an unidentified biker outside his home in Anantnag district of south Kashmir on Wednesday. One militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter in orchards of Aloora Badimarg area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday. Official sources told GNS, that one militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter, however identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained. Earlier Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Aloora.
