Residents of Dachnoo village Hirpora hamlet of south Kashmir’s Shopian district Thursday complained of lack of basic facilities in the village. Locals told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that despite living few kilometers away from district headquarters they have been left alone by the administration as no basic facilities are being provided to the residents. “Even in 21st century we are without basic amenities as since last 60 years politicians visited the village for votes and no developmental work is being done on ground." For the last 17 years, authorities in Anantnag have failed to complete a sports ground causing severe inconvenience to sports enthusiasts. As per locals, the ground at Nowshera Anantnag was sanctioned by the PDP-Congress government in 2004-2005 and subsequently c0nstruction work started after a year. They said men and machinery was pressed into service to fill the soil and level the ground. It was expected the sports field would help in promotion of sports activities among youngsters in the area and they would not have to travel to neighbouring places to play cricket or football. Meer Irfan The Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO), Shopian conducted a drive against school buses for not following the laid down norms related to the safety of students. The ARTO officials conducted inspection of school buses on Shopian-Keller route near Zawura village and the crackdown resulted into scrutiny of nearly 30 buses.
