343 Kanals of State/ Kahcharie land retrieved from encroachers at Shopian, say officials

More than 343 kanals of State/ Kahcharai land was today retrieved from encroachers during anti-encroachment drives held across the district. The land retrieved from illegal encroachment includes 25 kanals, 12 marlas at village Zainapora of Tehsil Zainapora, 55 kanals, 23 marlas at village Nagisharan in Tehsil Hermain, 43 Kanals, 3 marlas in village Berthipora Tehsil Keller, 85 Kanals in village Chittragam Tehsil Chittragam, 28 Kanals in village Vedapora Tehsil Keegam, 12 Marlas in village Hergam Tehsil Shopian and 105 Kanals, 5 marlas in village Mahandpora Tehsil Barbugh of the district. A DDC member from the Achabal area of Anantnag donated six electric transformers to the people of the Achabal belt in the south Kashmir district. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, locals said that due to the lack of electricity, DDC member Sameena Hussain provided transformers to the Telwani, Sansuma, and Bulbul Nowgam areas of Anantnag. They said that the installation of transformers has brought relief to the local residents who had been suffering due to the shortage of electricity in the area. Accompanying her during the installation cum inauguration was Jammu Kashmir National Conference senior social media analyst JKNC Hashim Hussain, who said, "It cost us around 6-7 lac on average, it is from DDC funds. We installed 250kv upgradation transformation in Telwani."

Police on friday said that security forces fired some rounds of bullets in air after observing suspicious movement in DH Pora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. In a brief handout to GNS, the police said that suspicious movement was reported during late afternoon in the main town DH Pora Kulgam. CASO was launched to search the area and some speculative shots were also fired. Police Kulgam, 9RR and CRPF 18 Bn are jointly conducting search, reads the statement.(GNS)

Despite paying the lease amount and rent since August last year, district administration Pulwama has not given possession of land to the Unit Holders who want to set up their units at Industrial Growth Centre Lassipora. Amid slogans, the protestors also blocked vehicular movement on the road. While speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the protestors said that the Jal Shakti Department is playing with their lives by not supplying them with drinking water. “We are facing an acute water crisis and no one from the department is concerned about that," they added. An assistant executive engineer of the Power Development Department (PDD) died of a cardiac arrest on Wednesday, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that AEE Mohammad Ayoub of Bon Dailgam area of Anantnag died when he was on his way to attend to his duty in Yaripora. A tragedy struck a family in Gujjar Basti Avil Manzgam area of Damhal Hanjipora in south Kashmir's Kulgam on Friday after an elderly man died on Friday while his residential house was gutted in a fire incident a few hours after his death. Tehsildar Damhal Hanjipora, Rouf Ahmad Lone told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that an elderly man (house owner) died early morning on Friday after a few hours his house caught fire.
