House of jailed Kashmiri man accused of supporting militants sealed in Shopian

Authorities Tuesday attached the house of a detenue from South Kashmir for his alleged links with militants, news agency KNT reported. The detenue identified as Usman Gulzar Wani, a resident of Hushangpora Nagabal village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district is currently lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu. Usman as per police was arrested in August last year after an encounter and one SLR, two SLR magazines, and 40 SLR rounds were recovered from his possession. Notably, on 30 August last year, three local militants Danish Khurshid Bhat, Tanvir Ahmed Wani and Tawseef Ahmed Bhat of Shopian district were killed in Nagabal Shopian encounter. Suhail Dar The Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution sealed five restaurants in Anantnag after the restaurants were found "heavily" overcharging customers. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, an official of the CAPD said that on Monday morning, five restaurants were sealed on the KP road street of the south Kashmir township after they were found overcharging from customers. The officials said that the Department had received several complaints against the restaurants for overcharging in the recent past. "Today the five were sealed after the claims of over-charging were found true," the official said. Lack of interest on part of a local contractor to execute work is the biggest hurdle in making a vital bridge over Romshi stream motorable in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The bridge is located in Dougam village of the district which can connect dozens of villages from Kakapora to Ratnipora. A 55-year-old man was injured after he was attacked by a bear in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday evening. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the man identified as Mohammad Maqbool Dar (55) of Nusipora Keegam was attacked by bear in Haaji Check Keegam area of the district. He said the man received injuries and was rushed to district hospital Pulwama for treatment, where his condition is said to be stable. Three militants of Lashkar e Taiba were killed in during an encounter in Munjh Marg area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday morning, police said. According to Police, the encounter started when Government forces including the Indian Army, and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by militants during a cordon and search operation in the area, following specific inputs about militant presence in the area. During the exchange of gunfire, three militants were killed, officials said.
