UMEED Rural Mart inaugurated in Shopian Kashmir

Meer Irfan Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM ) on Wednesday in collaboration with National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) today inaugurated a Rural Mart here at Shopain. JKRLM and NABARD has extended the grant support to SHGs promoted under JKRLM for setting up of these Rural Marts. The mart was inaugurated today at Shopain, aims to promote and provide the platform for marketing the local handmade products produced by the women Self Help Groups. Father of five daughters killed in Kulgam road accident

Suhail Dar/ Danishwar Hameed A 40-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was hit by an unknown vehicle in Qaimoh area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a vehicle hit one pedestrian identified as Ajaz Ahmad Malla (50) of Turak Tachloo on Srinagar-Jammu national highway near his native village. He said that he died on the spot and the body was later brought to Qaimoh hospital. Family member of Ajaz said that he is survived by five daughters, two sons and was the sole bread owner of the family. We appeal the Kulgam police to arrest the culprit as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Police have taken cognizance of the incident and started the investigation into the incident.

Traffic plan for transportation of fruit crops reviewed at Kulgam

Danishwar Hameed The Additional Development Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Showkat Ahmad Rather today chaired a meeting at Mini-Secretariat here to review the arrangements for smooth transportation of fruit crops to outside Valley. During the meeting, the traffic plan was discussed to facilitate smooth transportation and to avoid traffic jams. The ADC stressed to enforce traffic diversion plans especially during the peak fruit season. He stressed the officers to sensitize officials at checking points for better regulation and management of traffic to ensure smooth passage of fruit trucks. Youth goes missing in Shopian, Family appeals to return

Meer Irfan A youth has gone missing from his home in Chaigund area of south Kashmir's Shopian district. Marifat ahmad Mugloo , 23, son of Mohd Maqbool Mugloo a resident of Chaigund in Shopian has been missing from his home since 11 September, his family members told The Kashmiriyat. "Marifat left his home on Sunday for small work but did not return. We have been trying to call him since, but to no avail,” he said Ubaid's family has appealed general public to help them trace their son. FIR has been filed in the respective police station. Marifat is survived by four brothers, He was pursuing Graduation at Degree College in Pulwama, the family members said.

Shopian’s beloved preacher Mohammed Shaban Bhat passes away

Grief hit the Shopian district Monday morning after the passing away of a renowned Islamic preacher at his ancestral home in the south Kashmir district. Mohammed Shaban Bhat, noted Islamic scholar from south Kashmir’s Shopian district, as per local breathed his last on Monday morning. As soon as the news of his death spread in the nearby areas, people thronged his house in the south Kashmir town in huge numbers. Hundreds of people converged to his Nimaz-e- Jinaza at central Hanfia Eidgah court road Shopian at 10 am on Monday morning. Body of teenage girl recovered from Nallah in Kulgam

Danishwar Hameed Body of a teenage girl was recovered from nallah Vishow in Damhal Hanjipora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Thursday, officials said. An official told The Kashmiriyat that the body of the girl identified as Ruby Jan (14), daughter of Ghulam Hassan of Tangmarg was spotted in Nallah Vishow near her native village by locals. He said that the locals informed the police, following which a team reached the spot. The official added that the body has been shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Two hybrid LeT militants arrested in Shopian, Says Police
