Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, a local said that they have approached the concerned administrative officials several times, however, "no officials showed any concern towards the Sports stadium." "The administration had sanctioned 7 crore amount of rupees for the same in 2019 which is yet to be put into work. This is the only Sports stadium in the town and we keep organizing sports events here to keep youth away from the drug menace in Kashmir. 20-year-old young boy from Shopian goes missing

Meer Irfan A 20-year-old youth from Drawani area of South Kashmir's Shopian district has been missing for last 2 days. Family members speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Gazi Ahmad Bhat, Son of Sanaullah Bhat , a resident of Drawani Shopian went missing on 22nd August and has not returned yet. "He left home to play cricket at 8 am and we contacted him around 1:30 pm in the afternoon and he told us that he is going to Srinagar but he don't know anything about Srinagar," a family member said. He said that since then they have been trying to trace Gazi, but to no avail. All efforts by the family to trace him proved futile even as a missing report has been filed at the concerned police station in this regard.

Suhail Dar A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in Chandpora Kenelwan area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. An official said that a pedestrian identified as Ghulam Mohuddin Rather Son of Moma Rather resident of Chandpora Kanelwan Bijbehara was injured when a vehicle hit him near Chandpora on Tuesday afternoon, uaing critical injuries to him. He was immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment where doctors declared him brought dead. Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Mohuddin was a father to four young daughters and a son who is 18 years old. Meanwhile, Police have registered a case under the FIR number 148/2022 and started an investigation.

One drug peddler arrested in Verinag Anantnag, 38 KG poppy straw recovered

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested on drug peddler and recovered 39 kilograms of poppy straw (Fukki) from their possession. In a press statement to The Kashmiriyat, Police said that after receiving inputs, the SHO of Verinag Tajamul Islam Wani raided the house of Ruby Jan, a resident of Nowgam Shahabad and during the search recovered 39 Kgs of Poppy straw Powder from the house. They said that a case was registered vide FIR no 83/2022 under sections 8/15 of NDPS Act. "General public is advised not to indulge in drug menace. The Locals of Shahabad appreciate the swift action against drugs by Verinag Police," the Police stated.

A 28-year-old woman died after she was allegedly found hanging from a ceiling fan in Zainapora in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Reports reaching GNS said the woman (name withheld) was at her parental house at Safanagri village, where she was found hanging from the ceiling fan this evening. The woman, pregnant for several months now, was removed to a health facility in critical conditions where she died shortly after. Confirming it, a police official told GNS that cognizance has been taken into the matter for due investigations. (GNS)
