IED Found by Joint Forces in Awantipora Orchard, Destroyed

The security forces on Monday morning detected an Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) and later defused it in the Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. A senior police official said that a joint team of forces detected the IED in an orchard in Panzgam village in Awantipora. He said that bomb disposal squad was rushed to the area and the IED was later defused. He further added that the area has been cordoned off and further investigation has also been taken up—(KNO)

Mohammed Mufeez Unknown persons on Tuesday afternoon hurled a grenade on Government forces in the Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that suspected Militants lobbed a grenade on CRPF's 180 Batallion in the Tral area however nobody was inured in the attack, as per initial reports. Meanwhile, the Government Forces reached the spot in large numbers and cordoned off the area whole area to nab the attackers. Details emerging.

Police Destroys Poppy Cultivation Spread to 5 Kanals in Awantipora

District  Police Awantipora today launched a special drive for destroying the poppy cultivation in the Aligund area of Awantipora. A Police spokesman said that a Police team headed by SHO Awantipora along with Excise and revenue department officers destroyed a huge junk of poppy cultivation spread over more than 5 Kanals of land in the area of village Aligund Awantipora. The general public of the area has appreciated the action of the joint team and has urged the authorities to continue this drive in the nearby areas also. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding the cultivation of contrabands in their neighborhood, persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt with strictly under law.

The Government Forces have arrested four persons in the Barpora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that during nocturnal raids the Government Forces arrested four persons from the Ganie Mohalla and Palpora area of Barpora area of Pulwama district. The Locals identified them as Waqar Pandit, a resident of Talangam in Pulwama and Bilal Ahmed Ganie, Yawar Dar and Feroz Ahmed, residents of Barpora A Police official said that the four were arrested in a Militancy-related case.

A 16-year-old girl died after she suffered a massive cardiac arrest in Koil village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday. An official told, that the girl complained of chest pain at her home and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by her family. One more unidentified militant have been killed in an ongoing encounter that raged between government forces and militants at Nowbugh area if Tral in South Kashmir's PD Awantipora, on Friday morning. Mohammed Mufeez Nine students and one staff member have tested positive for the coronavirus in the Industrial Training Institute in the Tral area of Pulwama in South Kashmir. Mohammed Younis, the in-charge official speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that during sampling of the staff members and the students, ten have been found positive for Covid 19 on Wednesday. He said that the institute was maintaining the covid SOPs but despite that, the students and teachers being tested positive is a sign of alarm. Meanwhile, The Kashmiriyat spoke to the principal of the institute who said that the institute has decided to shut down functioning for five days till Sunday.

An official confirming the fire incident to The Kashmiriyat said that the Government High school building was damaged in a fire incident late on Tuesday night in the Kakpora area of Pulwama.
