35 Percent Voting Till 11 Am in Shadab Karewa of Shopian

May 06 Skinder Gull 812 votes polled have been polled out of 2322 in Shadab Karewa area of Shopian till 11:10 AM, amid a low voter turnout in the district. Unlike most of the areas in the district, large queues of voters were seen here coming to cast their votes, defying the Militant posters and boycott calls. Meanwhile in the various assembly segments of the twin districts the polling percentage recorded stood at 0.95 Percent. In the six assembly segments the polling percentage recorded was, Tral 0.41% Pampore 2.68% Pulwama. 0.33% Rajpora 0.28% Wachi. 0.29% Shopian. 1.86%.

3 Votes Polled out of 3895 in Shopian Area

May 06 Amid a low voter turnout in South Kashmir's Pulwama and Shopian district, three votes have been polled out of 3895 votes in 5 Polling stations in Balpora area of Shopian. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that only 3 votes polled out of 3895 in 5 polling stations set in Army Goodwill School Balpora Shopian at 10:15 am. Meanwhile 400 votes were polled out of 6318 in Khrew area of Pampore in South Kashmir. Clashes have been reported from various areas of the twin districts, amid a complete ban on Mobile internet services in the entire South Kashmir.

Polling Staff Reaches Shopian Areas in Choppers, a Day ahead of Elections

May 05 The Polling staff for Shopian elections scheduled tomorrow was ferried in chopper to polling various stations for the last phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections for the Anantnag Lok Sabha Seat. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that in Shopian, polling staff was airlifted from District Police Lines in Shopian to almost 39 places most of them in Wachi. District election officials denying these claims said that the report was baseless, but it is a possibility. Poling will be held in Shopian tomorrow in 245 polling Stations at 133 locations, all the stations have been declared hyper- sensitive.

May 03 Clashes erupted as hundreds of youth hit the streets of Imam Sahab and its adjoining areas in South Kashmir's Shopian area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth hit the streets early morning on Friday. The Forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters, however the clashes were going on when this report was filed. Locals said that people from nearby areas are marching towards Adkhara in huge numbers. Top Militant Commander Likely Trapped in Shopian Encounter- 2 Militants Killed

May 03 Two Militants have been killed during an encounter between militants and Government forces at Adkhara area of Imam Sahab in South Kashmir’s Shopian District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday morning 34 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area around 3:30 am. May 02 The District Magistrate of Shopian today promulgated Sec. 144 Cr.P.C. in the district from 03 May 2019 for a period of one month. The order reads that, "No assembly of congregation shall be allowed without the prior permission of District Magistrate, Shopian, Duty Magistrates Subject to prior NOC from the concerned SP/SHOs of respective jurisdiction." The order also bans the use of fire arms or an article capable of being used as weapon of offence other than members of Government Forces. May 01 Jahangeer Ganaie As the last leg of Parliamentary seat Anantnag polls reach closer, the Government forces have intensified their crackdown against the youth in the twin district of Pulwama and Shopian in South Kashmir. Government forces detained almost 20 more youth during nocturnal raids in South kashmir's Pulwama and shopian districts. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that at least one dozen youth were arrested from Gudoora village of Pulwama district in dead of the night. Pertinently a day before, around 30 youth were arrested from Murran, kangan and other parts of twin district.
