Early Morning Encounter Starts in Shopian’s Keller

March 28 An encounter has started between militants and Government forces at Yawran area of Keller in South Kashmir’s Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday morning 23 Para of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area. The cordon continued for nearly two to three hours, during which the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. Youth Shot Dead by Gunmen In Shopian

March 27 unknown persons on Wednesday fired at a civilian in the Kachdoora of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that gunmen fired upon a youth identified as Tanveer Ahmed in the Kachdoora area of Shopian after barging into his house. The Person was rushed to the nearby Hospital in an injured condition, however upon reaching the hospital, he was declared brought dead. March 25 A cordon and search operation (CASO) has been launched by Government Forces in South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday morning, 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Shermal area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Following inputs about Militant movement in the area, the forces blocked all the entry and exit points of the area.   A door to door search operation had been launched when this report was filed.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area. The cordon continued for nearly an hour, during which the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. March 20 At least four Militants on Wednesday managed to escape during a cordon and Search operation launched in the orchards of Heff Shermal area in Zainapora area of South Kashmir's Shopian district. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 44 RR of Indian Army, 23 PARA, 14 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the orchards of Heff and Shermal areas following an input about Militant movement in the area. Woman SPO Shot Dead By Suspected Militants

March 16 A special police officer (SPO) was shot dead by suspected militants at Vehil area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Khushboo Jan, a woman SPO was shot at around 2:40 pm at her residence in Vehil, Shopian. In the incident, the lady SPO was suffered and later shifted to the nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile Government Forces have cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the assailants.

Graduation Student from Shopian Goes Missing

March 06 A 22 year old boy from Shopian in South Kashmir has went missing from his home since Tuesday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Mohammed Amin Bhat son of Ghulam Mohuddin Bhat, a resident of Poterwal Area in South Kashmir's Shopian has been missing from his home. Amin, as per his family members, had left home to appear in the exams at Government Degree College (GDC) of Pulwama. The family has sought the help of people in locating the missing youth. Amin as per his family is pursuing Bachelor's in Arts at GDC Pulwama.
