Militants Killed in Shopian Encounter were Locals- Identified

November 20 The four militants killed in a  gunfight in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday have been identified. As per reports  the slain militants all belonging to militant outfit   Hizb-ul-Mujahideen have been identified as  Mehraj ud Din, son of Abdul Ahad Najar, a resident of Drawani; Abid Nazir Chopan, son of Nazir Ahmed Chopan, a resident of Padderpora and Anam ul haq, son of Mubarak Hussain, a resident of Motiju in south Kahsmir and Basarat Ahmad Neegro, son of Abdul Rashid Negroo, a resident of Chotigam in Shopian. Massive Clashes Continue near Encounter Site in Shopian, At least 5 Injured

September 15 At lest Five people have sustained injuries during the ongoing clashes near the Encounter site in the Nadigam area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. The Government Forces fired tear smoke shells, pellets and bullets on the protesting youth as they tried to march towards the encounter site. Sources confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that five youth have been injured in the clashes who were referred to the nearby hospitals. Meanwhile four Militants have been killed in the encounter amid massive clashes in nearby areas. (The Kashmiriyat)

Abducted Shopian Civilian Released in an Injured Condition by Militants

November 20 The civilian who was abducted by suspected militants late Monday evening from Wanpora area of South Kashmir's Shopian has been released. Sources told the Kashmiriyat that Parvaiz Ahmad Wani was abducted around 7:30 pm from his village in Wanpora Shopian on Monday evening and has been released by Militants after being shot. They said that he was released by the militants in injured condition as he was hit by a bullet in his leg. “He was spotted by locals in injured condition in wee hours today at Batamurran village,” sources said and added that he has been rushed to SMHS hospital in Srinagar for treatment. 4 Militants, 1 Trooper Killed in Shopian Encounter

November 20 Four militants and one para commando have been killed in an early morning encounter in the Nadigam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian. Sources told The Kashmiriyat  that an encounter erupted in the area around 3 am after the government forces including the army, J&K police and CRPF launched a CASO. As the government forces, after specific inputs about the presence of militants in the village, zeroed in on the spot where militants were suspected to be holed up, the militants fired at the forces triggering a gunfight. November 18 Suspected Militants on Sunday evening released a youth who had been abducted from Memander area of South Kashmir's Shopian District today morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown gunmen had abducted a civilian namely Suhail Ahmed Ganie son of Sheeraz Ahmed Ganie from his native in Memander area of Shopian. They said that the masked gunmen had picked him up from his native and whisked him away from the spot on Sunday morning. Militant Hideout Busted in Shopian Area

November 18 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a Militant hideout in South Kashmir's Shopian District on Sunday evening. The Police informed that during a raid the Jammu Kashmir Police and 23 Para Unit Of Army busted a hideout in Yarwan village of south Kashmir's Shopian during the search operation On Sunday. They said that incriminating material including edibles, stores & sustenance items for winters was recovered from hideout.

November 18 Two militants killed in a nocturnal gunfight in Reban Zainapora village of South kashmir’s Shopian district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a Joint Team of forces laid siege in Reban area of Shopian after receiving specific input about presence of militants there, as the team intensifying searches hiding militants fired on forces triggering gunfight. The Slain Militants have identified as Nawaz Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Rebban Zainapora and Yawar Wani son of Ali Mohammad Wani resident of Batnoor Litter Pulwama. They were affiliated with militant outfit Al-Badar.

Unidentified Dead Body Found in Shopian Area

November 17 An unidentified Male body was found on Saturday afternoon in the Tongi Nallah in Landoora area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that locals spotted a throat slit body of an unidentified man in the Landoora village on Saturday afternoon.
