CASO Launched in Shopian Area

October 25 A CASO has been launched by government forces at Gadhapora area of Ratnipora in South Kashmir’s Shopian District on Thursday early morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and SOG of JK Police laid down the Search operation jointly. “The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area,” Official sources said. The search operation was going on when this report was filed.  

Unknown Gunmen Ransack the house of Three Policemen in South Kashmir

October 24 Unknown gunmen late night on Tuesday ransacked the house of three brothers working in the Jammu Kashmir Police Department in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that at least three unknown gunmen barged into the house of a policemen identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Thokar at Paddarpora area in Kulgam and ransacked the house. “There were only little girls present in the house. The gunmen ransacked the house and left away,” the said. Mushtaq Ahmed has three sons working in the police department, two of whom area posted in Ladakh Division while one at Bandipora district. A police official said that they are verifying if anything as such has happened.

Nocturnal CASO Launched in Shopian Area

October 21 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Kunsoo locality of Imam Sahib Area in South Kashmir's Shopian District. Late on Sunday, the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Kunsoo area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Shopian locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Pulwama Shuts down to Demand the Body of Slain Militant

October 19 A complete shutdown has been observed in Pulwama of the southern district demanding body of a militant killed last month in a gunfight in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Family of Abdul Rashid has been claiming that one among the killed militants was their son and has been demanding the body since September 21, when the encounter took place in Sumlar area of district Bandipora. All shops and business establishments were closed while public transport remained thin on roads. Auquaf committee Pulwama had called for shutdown in the down to press government to handover the militant’s body.

Militants Offer Gun Salute to Hurriyat Activist

October 11 Militants on Thursday offered gun salute to a Hurriyat activist who was shot dead by unknown gunmen this afternoon in Memander area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that a group of militants appeared in Shopian's Memander during the funeral prayers of slain Hurriyat activist Tariq Ahmad Ganie. The militants fired several shots in air to pay tribute to the slain activist. The Hurriyat Activist was abducted by unknown gunmen this afternoon and later shot dead near his home.

12 Army men Injured in a Road Accident in Shopian

October 06 At least ten Government Force Personnel have been injured in a road accident in Kanipora area of South Kashmir's Shopian District early morning o Saturday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that ten Army men of 23 PARA got Injured as their vehicle turned turtle on Kanipora bridge at Shopian during the Night hours. The Injured men have been rushed to Army's 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar where the condition of some of them is stated to be critical.
