Policeman Killed in Shopian Militant Attack

September 30 A policeman was killed early morning on Sunday when Militants attacked police station Shopian town of South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown  gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on Police station Shopian resulting in injuries to a cop. A police officer said that militants hurled a grenade followed by firing on the police station. The cop sustained serious injuries in the incident and was taken to nearby hospital where he succumbed. He has been  identified Sakif Mohi Din of Zawoora, his service rifle was also snatches by the militants.

September 29 The Government Forces on Wednesday  launched a cordon and search operation in the Amurbugh area of South Kashmir's Shopian  District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday, the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Shopian locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Policeman Decamps with 9 Rifles, Search Operation Launched

September 28 A special Police officer of Jammu Kashmir Police decamped with nine rifles late night on Friday from Guard room at J 11 at Government Quarters Jawar Nagar area in Srinagar. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a cop presently posted as PSO (personal security official) of PDP MLA Wachi ran away with 9 rifles of cops late night on Friday. The said cop who ran away with 7 Ak 47, 1 Insas Rifle and 1 Pistol was deployed for the security of MLA of Shopian South Kashmir. The SPO has been identified as Adil Bashir, who is the resident of Zainapora in Shopian area of South Kashmir. A high alert has been sounded across the area and a search operation has been launched to nab him, an official told The Kashmiriyat.

September 22 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Shermal area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Early a morning on Saturday, the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Shermal area. Suspected Militants Kill Three Abducted Policemen

September 21 Suspected militants killed three abducted cops in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the cops were cop were abducted from two villages Bategund and Kapren after suspected militants barged into their houses late night on Thursday. The slain Policemen have been identified as  Firdous Ahmad, Kuldeep Singh and Nisar Ahmad. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the bullet riddled bodies of three cops have been recovered from Dangam area of Shopian. The fourth abducted cop namely Tajaullah has been released by the Militants.

September 14 A CASO has been launched in Lone Mohallah, Batpora and Malpora localities of Turkwangam area of South Kashmir's Shopian District on Friday morning. September 13 A Total of eight Militants have been killed in the day in Kashmir in three separate gunfights that raged in Sopore (Baramulla), Keran (Kupwara) and kakriyal (Jammu).
