August 29 on Wednesday, the Traders and manufacturer’s federation of Shopian held a protest demonstration in the South Kashmir township of Shopian in defense of Article 35-A. The protesters gathered in the main market of Shopian and raised slogans in support of special status. August 29 Altaf Ahmed Dar Alias Kaczroo and Umer Rashid have been identified as two Militants killed in the gunfight that erupted at Muniwar locality of Islamabad (anantnag) in South Kashmir. An Army official told The Kashmiriyat that the slain Militants have been identified as Altaf Kaczroo of hawoora and Umer Rashid of Khudwani and their bodies have been handed over to Jammu Kashmir Police who will hand it over to their families. August 27 The Indian Army organized a Medical Camp at Chillipora village in South Kashmir's Shopian district on Monday in which dozens of people were given free medical assistance. In a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, The Army said, "The medical team provided free consultation to the locals of Chillipora and neighbouring villages on various health related issues including Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Respiratory and Skin related problems." They said that A total of 129 individuals including 73 male, 24 female and 32 children were examined and provided free medicines by the medical staff. (The Kashmiriyat)

August 27 The Jammu Kashmir Police in Shopian District seized a huge quantity of poppy straw (Fukki) in Imam Shaib area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. The Police said that during a Naka checking at Manihal Imamsahib, a Police party of Police post Imamsahib intercepted a truck bearing Reg no .JK03B 7911. On being intercepted, the driver of the said truck jumped from the truck and fled from spot. On checking the said truck, a huge quantity of Poppy straw like material, packed in Nylon bags was recovered, which on weighing was found 92 kgs. A case FIR No 275/2018 u/s 8,15,18 NDPS stands registered at P/S shopian and investigation taken up and a manhunt to nab the accused has been launched.

August 26 Suspected Militants on Sunday night fired at the house of BJP leader Congress leader in Bonbazar area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Militants fired a few shots at the Police post guarding the house of the Congress leader, Mohammed Shafi Banday. However the alert guard fired a few shots in the air and retaliated the attack, Militants later escaped from the spot. As per initial reports, nobody has been injured in the attack. Pertinently in July this year, militants had decamped with four rifles from police guards at the residence of Congress leader, Mohammed Shafi Banday.

August 26 The Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the kashew locality of Zainapora area in South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Late afternoon on Sunday, the forces including 3 RR of Indian Army, and Jammu Kashmir police launched a search operation at the kashew area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this  Zainapora locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Kashew Village is surrounded by the areas of Maldera and Sugan in South Kashmir's Shopian Districts. A search operation was going on when this report was being filed. (The Kashmiriyat)

August 25 A special police officer along with an AK-47 rifle of his colleague is missing from police station Shopian of Southern Kashmir. The SPO has been identified as Showkat ahmad sheikh son of Abdul Majeed sheikh resident of Hermain shopian. Locals informed The Kashmiriyat that Showkat a brilliant student was recruited as an SPO during 2016 agitation. He belongs to a well off family and his father Abdul Majeed is reportedly a senior member of People democratic party and is associated with fruit business, they said. August 24 A cordon and Search Operation has been launched by troops in the Kumdalan area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Following a specific input, the Forces including 34RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched the Anti Militancy cordon and Sear ch operation in the area. Official Sources said that the forces have blocked all the entry and exit points to the Kumdalan area as presence of Militants is expected. The forces have launched a door to door search operation in the area.

August 19 A CASO has been launched in Woyen of  Imam Sahib area of South Kashmir's Shopian District on Sunday night. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 44RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police laid down the Search operation jointly. "The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area," Sources said. The Search operation was going on when this report was filed.
