Massive CASO Underway in Shopian Area

August 26 The Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the kashew locality of Zainapora area in South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Late afternoon on Sunday, the forces including 3 RR of Indian Army, and Jammu Kashmir police launched a search operation at the kashew area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this  Zainapora locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Kashew Village is surrounded by the areas of Maldera and Sugan in South Kashmir's Shopian Districts. A search operation was going on when this report was being filed. (The Kashmiriyat)

August 25 A special police officer along with an AK-47 rifle of his colleague is missing from police station Shopian of Southern Kashmir. The SPO has been identified as Showkat ahmad sheikh son of Abdul Majeed sheikh resident of Hermain shopian. Locals informed The Kashmiriyat that Showkat a brilliant student was recruited as an SPO during 2016 agitation. He belongs to a well off family and his father Abdul Majeed is reportedly a senior member of People democratic party and is associated with fruit business, they said. Shopian Village Cordoned by Forces

August 24 A cordon and Search Operation has been launched by troops in the Kumdalan area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Following a specific input, the Forces including 34RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched the Anti Militancy cordon and Sear ch operation in the area. Official Sources said that the forces have blocked all the entry and exit points to the Kumdalan area as presence of Militants is expected. The forces have launched a door to door search operation in the area.

Search Lights Installed, Door to Door Search Operation Continues in Shopian Area

August 24 The Government Forces on Friday jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the the Moolu Chitragam area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Moolu Chitragam area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Moolu Chitragam locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. The forces installed LED Lights as a massive door to door search operation is underway. Pertinently Moolu Chitragam is the native to Mufti Tariq of Hizb ul Mujahideen. (The Kashmiriyat)

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 44RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police laid down the Search operation jointly. "The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area," Sources said. The Search operation was going on when this report was filed.

Weapon Snatching Bid Foiled in Shopian

August 18 Suspected Militants early morning on Saturday fired at the guard post of National Conference Member, Showkat Ahmed Ganie at Chitragam in South Kashmir's Shopian. Police officials confirming the attack to The Kashmiriyat said that the incident took place around 4:30 am in the morning, but the alert guards opened fire on the Militants forcing them to escape. Nobody was injured in the attack, he said.

August 11 As many as fourteen civilians have been killed in the firing of Government Forces in Shopian district alone. As per figures available to The Kashmiriyat Shopian District has been the worst hit, the district witnessed four civilian killings on a single day on March 4 at Pehnoo area. On 27 January, two civilians namely Javaid Ahmed and Suhail Ahmed were killed by government forces when army fired on a group of protesters at Ganopora area in Shopian.
