The Government Forces on Wednesday morning  launched Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Watoo area of the Shopian district of South Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a search operation has been launched jointly by forces including RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and CRPF in Watoo area of Shopian. All the entry and exit points of the area have been sealed on Wednesday morning, and a door-to-door search operation has begun, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched as an Anti Militancy operation on May 2, 2017, amid a rise in the local recruitment into Militant groups in the Kashmir valley. The Forces jointly conduct search operations in a specific area, locking down the area virtually and frisk houses.

Meer Irfan The body of a Patwari was recovered from an apple orchard in the Aglar area of the Shopian district on Tuesday. An official told The Kashmiriyat that Locals on Tuesday found a dead body of a revenue official identified as Inam-ul-Haq in the Aghlar area of Shopian after which they informed the Police. A Police party rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Inam ul Haq, the cause of his death is being ascertained, officials said. The deceased was a resident of the Balpora area in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. As per initial inputs, he died after suffering a cardia arrest.

Meer Irfan Seven members of a family fell unconscious in south Kashmir’s Shopian district after mistakenly consuming a medicinal plant in tea. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a child of the family in Nabal Zawoora area of Shopian had grinded a medicinal plant probably Argemone mexicana and mixed it with tea. They said that after taking this tea, all seven members fell unconscious and were shifted to district hospital Shopian, wherefrom they were shifted to SMHS Srinagar for advanced treatment. Sources, however, said that their condition was stable. They have been identified as Azad Ahmad, Hajira Begum, Mohammad Amin, Fareeda Jan, Shabir Ahmed besides two minor kids.

An official of the wildlife department along with three civilians were injured when a leopard attacked them in Shopian district of South Kashmir on Sunday. Officials said that a leopard appeared in Meemander village and attacked people. The wildlife department was informed and concerned authorities reached the spot in a brisk to capture the leopard. The leopard left four people injured - two of which are seriously injured while the other two other two suffered minor injuries. Wildlife employee, Mushtaq Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie, a local of the area are the two seriously injured victims from the attack. Meer Irfan Three militants have been killed in the encounter that raged late on Thursday in the Badigam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that joint Forces including 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly launched the Anti- Militancy operation.
