Advisory For Food Business Operators

January 31 Commissioner Food Safety, Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar today issued an advisory for Food Business Operators (FBOs) in view of frequent closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway due to adverse weather conditions. The FBOs have been asked to destroy deteriorated food items forthwith. “There may be apprehensions that food products especially fruits and vegetables, perishable food items that were in transit may get deteriorated. All the stakeholders especially FBOs dealing with of livestock, fruit, vegetables and perishable food items are advised to ensure that deteriorated food items, if any, are destroyed on spot,” the advisory reads. January 21 Prominent Businessman,Vijay Dhar, who runs Delhi Public School in Srinagar is planning to open a cinema this year. Post a gap of nearly 30 years, Cinema Theatres are set to return to the conflict torn Himalayan region of Kashmir Valley as the region will have first cinema theatre soon. The Governor of Jammu Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik had in November given a green signal for the proposal The cinemas in Kashmir valley were closed down here after the eruption of militancy in late 1988. January 19 The Indian Army may restrict the number of people attending the funeral of militants in the Kashmir valley as they believe that it has the potential to emotionally charge young minds. A report last year observed that Militant funerals have become a hotbed for Militant recruitment. According to the sources, efforts are being made to increase the deployment of Government forces in and around the area where a slain militant belongs. January 07 The Failure to contain infiltration from across the Line of Control and putting a control on the recruitment of local youths into Militant outfits remain a constant source of worry for Indian Security agencies in Jammu Kashmir, officials said. In a report published on Economic times, the security agencies while analysing the trends of 2018 noted that infiltration figures continue to remain unchanged as around 140 Militants successfully sneaked into the Kashmir Valley. Air Traffic Resumes on Srinagar Airport after 24 Hours

January 05 The runway at Srinagar airport has been cleared of snow for the takeoff and landing of flights which was affected due to the overnight snowfall. Officials in ‘Project Beacon’ said that about one feet of snow had accumulated on the airport runway due to which flights were halted. Beacon officials said that its team through their strenuous efforts ensured zero accumulation on the main runway. They said that the airport has been cleared off for traffic after more than 24 hours.
