Vijay Dhar Plans to Open Cinema Hall in Kashmir this year- First in 30 Years

January 21 Prominent Businessman,Vijay Dhar, who runs Delhi Public School in Srinagar is planning to open a cinema this year. Post a gap of nearly 30 years, Cinema Theatres are set to return to the conflict torn Himalayan region of Kashmir Valley as the region will have first cinema theatre soon. The Governor of Jammu Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik had in November given a green signal for the proposal The cinemas in Kashmir valley were closed down here after the eruption of militancy in late 1988. January 10 Kashmir’s IAS officer Shah Faesal has said that he was stormed with abuse after he announced his resignation from the government services. Faesal took to social media and wrote: “It has been a storm of abuse and adulation. Hundreds and thousands of people reacted to my resignation in hundreds and thousands of ways. January 06 The year 2018 has been one of the bloodiest year since a decade as at least 470 people were kiled during the year. A total of 245 Militants, 150 civilians and 84 Government Force personnel were killed during the year, as per figures available to The Kashmiriyat. South Kashmir, Local Recruitment the Biggest Worries for Indian Agencies- Report

January 07 The Failure to contain infiltration from across the Line of Control and putting a control on the recruitment of local youths into Militant outfits remain a constant source of worry for Indian Security agencies in Jammu Kashmir, officials said. In a report published on Economic times, the security agencies while analysing the trends of 2018 noted that infiltration figures continue to remain unchanged as around 140 Militants successfully sneaked into the Kashmir Valley. Although the Government Forces managed to kill 110 infiltrators, the successful number of cross overs continue to worry the Indian Security agencies. Air Traffic Resumes on Srinagar Airport after 24 Hours

January 05 The runway at Srinagar airport has been cleared of snow for the takeoff and landing of flights which was affected due to the overnight snowfall. Officials in ‘Project Beacon’ said that about one feet of snow had accumulated on the airport runway due to which flights were halted. Beacon officials said that its team through their strenuous efforts ensured zero accumulation on the main runway. They said that the airport has been cleared off for traffic after more than 24 hours.

December 24 2018 has been the deadliest year in a decade as the year has seen highest number of Militants killings, 237, civilians killing 140 and 120 Government Force personnel have been killed while in 2017, 86 encounters resulted in the death of  213 Militants. December 21 The PHE and I&FC Departments today ordered confirmation of the promotion of 180 Junior Engineers, who have been since placed against higher posts. The promotions were cleared at the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting convened at JKPSC here today. Secretary PHE, I&FC, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Members for Public Service Commission and other concerned officers were present at the meeting.
