Protests in Kashmir University Against Killing of Manan Wani

October 15 Protests erupted in Kashmir University on Monday against the killing of scholar turned militant Mannan Wani and bis accomplice. Sources said that hundreds of students marched in the varsity campus protesting against Mannan Wani’s killing amidst intense pro freedom sloganeering. Mannan Bashir, a former scholar in geology department of Aligarh Muslim University was killed along with an accomplice in northern Kashmir’s Handwara on Thursday.

Rain, Snow Predicted in Parts of the Kashmir Valley

October 08 After a brief dry spell, the weather department has predicted intermittent rain today in the Kashmir Valley. A MeT official said that there are chances of rain and snowfall in parts of the Kashmir Valley. “Higher reaches and plains can receive moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday,” he said adding that weather will be clear from Monday. Looking at the weather in Kashmir, over the next 7 days, the maximum temperature will be 25℃ on Saturday 13th October. In the same week the minimum temperature will be 5℃ on Thursday 11th October at around 5 am. The national weather service for Srinagar is reporting Tuesday 9th October to be the wettest day in the coming week.

Presiding officer suspended for violating polling rules in Bandipora

October  08 A presiding officer Monday was suspended  for violating polling rules in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, where first phase of urban and local body polls began this morning. Reports said that the presiding officer was suspended  for violating norms by allowing a woman to accompany a voter up to the voting compartment in Kaloosa area of Bandipora district here this morning. The presiding officer was replaced by the Polling officer 1 at higher secondary school Kaloosa. October 03 SHABIR KHAN The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a Lashkar e Taiba Militant in Hadipora near Baramulla-Handwara in North Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Jammu Kashmir Police along with Army 32RR & 92 Bn CRPF arrested one local militant namely Amir Sultan War, a resident of Naidkhai Sumbal Bandipora during a NAKA checking. Amir had recently joined the LeT Outfit had issued a video in which he was seen asking the people of North Kashmir not to participate in the forthcoming Local Bodies and Panchayat elections. Case has been registered in P/S Dangiwacha and investigation taken up.

1 Militant Killed, Massive Clashes Erupt near the Budgam Encounter Site

September 27 One Militant has been killed in the ongoing gunfighit in Panzan area of Chadoora in Budgam District of Jammu Kashmir on Thursday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat The Forces including 53 RR, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF laid a joint operation in Paznan area of Chadoora in Budgam and cordoned off the locality. They said the militants holed up in the area opened fire upon the forces, triggering a gunfight. As per initial reports, two to three Militants are believed to be trapped in the area, the authorities are likely to suspend the Mobile internet Services. Date Sheets for Class 10 and 12th announced for Kashmir

September 27 The Jammu Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) announced the dates for the Secondary School Examination (10th), Higher Secondary Examination Part – II (12th class) and 11th class examination for 2018 in Kashmir division. JKBOSE Class 10 date sheet The class 10 exam will start on October 24 and will end on November 14. The schedule is as below: The class 12 exam will start on October 22 and end on November 15. The exam will be conducted for all streams – Science, Arts, Home Science, and Commerce. Government Finally accepts that SPOs have Resigned

September 25 The Jammu Kashmir government on Tuesday has finally accepted that "some" special police officers (SPOs) has resigned from their Police jobs to avoid the brunt of Militant attacks. State chief secretary BVR Subrahmanyam said there have been "negligible" cases of SPO resignations and the cases are confined to South Kashmir, while rest of the valley is peaceful adding that there were 30,000 SPOs in Jammu Kashmir and the number of them resigning is very negligible. He said that the SPOs have been instructed about their personal safety while the government is in process of enhancing their honorarium which had been increased from 3000 to six thousand, but it shall be increased further. September 21 A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the constitutional validity of Article 370 of the Constitution, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir and limits Parliament’s power to make laws concerning the state. The plea has said the special provision was “temporary” in nature at the time of framing of the Constitution and Article 370(3) lapsed with the dissolution of the Jammu and Kashmir Constituent Assembly on January 26, 1957. Minor Girl Kidnapped, Rescued by Jammu Kashmir Police

September 15 A minor girl, who was allegedly kidnapped from her house in Rajouri, was rescued in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Saturday. The accused, Kapil Dev, of Jamola village of Rajouri was arrested during a rescue operation, a police spokesperson said. He said a man from Kharak village had lodged a missing report of her daughter on September 7 and during initial investigation it came to the fore that she has been kidnapped by Dev, who was living in a rented accommodation in Jawahar Nagar area of Rajouri.
