Minor Girl Found Dead in Uri

September 02 A minor girl missing for past ten days has been found dead in a forest area in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday. Sources said that Muskan Jan aged had went missing from her home in Boniyar Uri on August 23 and since then the Police and the family was searching for her, but to no avail. Her body was spotted by locals in the Trikanjan forests on Sunday morning.

151 Illegal Clinics Sealed in Kashmir Valley

August 29 151 illegal and un-authorized clinics across the Kashmir valley have been locked down On the directions of Divisional Commissioner and Directorate of Health Services Kashmir. Reports reveal that 66 illegal clinics were sealed In Baramulla district, 37 in Budgam, Shopian 09, Kupwara 03, Islamabad (Anantnag) 09, Kulgam 13, Pulwama 05, Srinagar 03 and in Ganderbal district 06 illegal and un-authorized clinics were completely sealed. This was revealed in a meeting to review the progress of the sealing drive, which was chaired by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan. Kashmir University Postpones Entrance Exams Scheduled on 30,31 August

August 29 The University of Kashmir has postponed all the entrance exams scheduled to be held on the 30 and 31 of August in view of the strike call in defense of Article 35a. The University has notified all the candidates that Kashmir University PG Entrance Test in Islamic Studies, Biochemistry, Commerce and Chemistry has been rescheduled and will be held on 5 th of September, 2018 and in Library & Information Sciences and Mathematics will be held on 6 th of September, 2018. The time and venue for all the subjects will remain same, the notification read. Besides, the candidates who are going to appear in the Entrance Test for M.P.Ed. Scheduled to be held on 02-09-2018 at 03:00 PM are hereby directed to download their Admit Cards afresh.

Downtown Girl becomes Youngest Girl from Kashmir to Fly Aircraft

August 28 Iram Habib (30), a resident of Srinagar's downtown area has become the first and youngest woman from Srinagar to fly an aircraft. Iram pursued her bachelors in forestry from Dehradun and post-graduation in forestry from the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir. Though she studied forestry, she did not let her dream die. While Iram’s family wanted her to pursue PhD in forestry and get a government job, she kept looking for options to train as a pilot. Iram completed her training from Miami in the US in 2016 and returned to India to get a commercial pilot licence. The 30-year-old has two job offers in India at the moment.

August 27 Intense Clashes Erupted in Government Degree college Of Shopian District of South Kashmir over the attempts to revoke Article 35A. A Student told The Kashmiriyat that students in large numbers shouting slogans in favour of Article 35a hit the streets. The students hurled stones on Government Forces deployed in the area, triggering clashes. The forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse protesting students. August 14 The Jammu Kashmir Government today constituted a high-level committee to examine the issues in the School Education Department. A high-level committee has been Constituted to examine the issues in the School Education Department, particularly for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan teachers who have been not given wages for months together. The Committee will be headed by Administrative Secretary Finance Department. The members of the committee include Administrative Secretary Planning, Development & Monitoring Department; Administrative Secretary, Higher Education Department; Administrative Secretary GAD and Administrative Secretary School Education Department.

Kashmir University Announces Summer vacation

August 10 The Kashmir University has on Friday announced Summer vacation for the main campus and Satellite Campuses in the province via a circular on the University official website. As per the circular, the summer vacations would commence from 16 August and end on the 25th of August. The circular further read that the Entrance of P.G will be held as per schedule.

Militant Killings- Protests Erupt in Amar Singh College, GDC Bemina

August 03 The Students of Amar Singh College and Government Degree College Bemina in Srinagar held protests against the killings of 13 militants in Kashmir on saturday. "The Students hit the streets to demand an end to the killing spree in Kashmir," a student told The Kashmiriyat. The student said that protest was also held in defence of Article 35-A. The students in large numbers shouted pro Independence and Pro Islam slogans, the students said. Meanwhile there are reports of sporadic clashes in the Bemina area of Srinagar.

5 Teachers Suspended for being Absent in Ganderbal

July 31 Rayees Shah Five teachers were suspended on Tuesday for absence from their school in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that during a surprise visit, five teachers identified as Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Mohammed Ashraf Sheikh, Riyaz and Bashir Ahmed were suspended from Government Boys Middle School in Behki Margoona area in Ganderbal. They said that the headmaster of the school Firdous Ahmed Shah was also found absent and hence suspended. The five teachers have been placed under suspension immediately till further orders, Sources told The kashmiriyat.
