Firdous Qadri Scores of women on Sunday staged a protest in Srinagar against the Fashion show being organized amid covid-19 by a group named J-K Youth Society at Tagore Hall in Srinagar. The women marched from Nehru Park to SKICC, where the event was held in which dozens of youth participated as models, designers, dancers, rap artists, and stand-up comedians. Days after Jammu Kashmir Police issued an order banning the 'live' coverage of encounters between the Government forces and militants, various journalists alleged that they were stopping from covering the encounters that raged in South Kashmir's Shopian and Anantnag districts. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat over the phone, a journalist who wished to maintain anonymity said that a group of journalists was barred from covering the encounter that raged on Saturday evening in the Semthan area of Bijbehara in Anantnag district. The 14-year-old boy, Faisal Gulzar who went missing a few days ago in the Chitragam Kalan area of Shopian is likely among the three Militants trapped at the site of the encounter in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. The family members of Faisal speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Faisal called home informing that he has been trapped in the orchards of Satrajan in Shopian and is engaged in an encounter with Joint Forces. Sheikh Nadeem After 37 students were tested positive for covid-19 in Kulgam, At least fourteen students were tested positive for covid 19 in the Katsoo area of Sirigufwara in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on Wednesday. An official of the Education Department posted in Sirigufwara told The Kashmiriyat that at least 14 students tested positive for COVID-19 at Government High School Katsoo Srigufwara in Anantnag School. In a major achievement, six patients have undergone primary/rescue angioplasty in a government super specialty Hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday in just a day. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that two among them were in cardiogenic shock. “The six patients include a 70-year-old smoker with diabetes, 48-year-old male smoker, 47-year-old male smoker, 37-year year-old male smoker, 58 years old female suffering from hypertension and 46-year-old army man, also a smoker,” he said. Bank Balance of Three Departments in Kashmir Rise As Compensation not Disbursed- CAG

There was an increase in accumulated balances in 1,138 bank accounts of three departments in Jammu and Kashmir between 2014 and 2019 due to factors such as improper planning and undisbursed funds for relief or compensation to victims of militancy and natural disasters, the CAG has said. It is recommended that there is an effective monitoring mechanism in the union territory in this regard and government instructions are strictly implemented, it said in a report tabled in Parliament recently. The massive increase in balances were in accounts of 131 Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) of the public works, revenue and rural development departments, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India said. Encounters and militancy-related violence have increased in Kashmir after the February 15 ceasefire agreement between Indian and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu Kashmir. Two encounters had taken place between militants and security forces from January 1 to February 15. However, in over a month since the ceasefire agreement was signed, the number of encounters has increased to at least eight.
