My Name is Asifa and i am no more- A Letter From the Eight year Old Asifa

WRITE-UPS
Shah Hussain I was in deep slumber until someone nudged my back. Amidst tears and cries, my eyes woke up to the beautiful yet strange world. Laughing faces, happy hearts and one emotional creature on my bed: Mother! She was grinning like a Cheshire cat. With a twinkle in my eyes and a gentle smile on my face, I responded (wondrously)  to her. In her laps did I find the solace. Dad's back was my favourite ride. I was a happy bonny child. What happened next ?  A wolf haunted me in my dreams! I was traumatised, tormented, assaulted, molested ,raped and brutally killed. My dreams were shattered to pieces !Now I do not exist anymore. My name is Asifa and I am no more ! These are the throes of agony of the little girl who used to reside in the woods with her parents and flock. These ...

Journalism and Kashmir -Two poles that never meet!

WRITE-UPS
Farhan Bashir Journalism is an important tool by virtue of which even the layman gets aware of the daily happenings. The responsibility of assessing, thorough investigation, and presenting the news, national or international, of trends and issues is parallel to no profession whatsoever. Impartial and honest journalists make this profession all the more invaluable. Journalism is an irrevocable part of a civilized and democratic society. Journalism in most parts of the world is independent, as it should be, given the prerogative it holds over other professions. As quoted by Henry Anatole  Grunwald: Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. Virtue in the sense that it presents truth to the masses, and restrains a government from going against the ...

Having a living heart is not extremism, Pseudo-intellectualism and hypocrisy is! Sacrificing everything for a sacred cause is not irrationality, making monkey of it is! Yes ! Dying with dignity is far better than being a gold merchant in "Slavery" ! A boy of medium stature, fair and extremely handsome, sharp and the one who knows no 'Hanky Panky', witty as well as sagacious, few years elder to me, a sportsman and a topper of his class, I still remember the time when...
