
In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended an accused Officer, stationed at the Office of Tehsildar Banihal in District-Ramban, Jammu Kashmir.
The arrest comes amidst allegations that the accused solicited a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a complainant in exchange for expediting a land settlement application.
Following a thorough investigation into the complaint, CBI officials uncovered damning evidence suggesting the accused’s involvement in corrupt practices. The accused purportedly negotiated the bribe down to Rs. 18,000 before being caught red-handed in a meticulously planned trap set by CBI operatives on May 27, 2024.
In a subsequent search operation conducted at both the residential and official premises of the accused, authorities seized a substantial sum of approximately Rs. 3,71,500 in cash along with other pertinent documents.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Ishaq Bhat, Office Qanoongo, O/o Tehsildar Banihal, District-Ramban, J&K.
