The students of the Central University of Kashmir in Ganderbal on Monday gathered in large numbers to protest against the insulting remarks made by BJP leaders against the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that scores of students gathered outside the university raising pro-Islam and anti-BJP slogans while demanding imprisonment for the BJP leaders who made disrespectful comments against the Muslim community.
The protesting students said, “Everyone has a right to practice their faith while nobody has a right to disrespect the faith of others. Insulting the Prophet of Islam ﷺ is insulting every single Muslim, anywhere in the world. Such incidents should not happen. We demand action against the former BJP spokesperson, Nupur Sharma.”
Pertinently, the insulting remarks made by a former BJP spokesperson during a Live TV show on May 26 have triggered widespread anger. Several Arab countries summoned the Indian ambassador, and many others called for a boycott of Indian goods.
Last Friday, massive protests were held across India. Two young Muslims boys were shot dead during the protests in the Ranchi city of Jharkhand.
