Biting cold conditions continued across the Kashmir valley and the minimum temperatures in the Kashmir region depict a varied cold spell.
Srinagar recorded -3.8°C, Qazigund at -3.4°C, Pahalgam dipped to -5.1°C, while Kupwara experienced -3.9°C.
Other districts include Kokernag at -2.4°C, Gulmarg at -4.2°C, Anantnag at -4.4°C, Ganderbal at -3.1°C, Pulwama at -5.0°C, Bandipora at -3.9°C, Baramulla at -4.3°C, Budgam at -3.8°C, Kulgam at -2.1°C, and Shopian at -5.5°C, each presenting a distinctive touch of winter’s chill.
In December 2023, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh faced severe aridity, with J&K experiencing a 79% rainfall deficit and Ladakh receiving no rainfall. Among the Jammu and Kashmir districts, Rajouri recorded the highest deficiency at 96%, followed by Kathua at 92%.
Pulwama and Budgam were the only two districts with ‘deficient’ rainfall, facing deficits of 55% and 49%, respectively.
Minimum temperatures today in the Kashmir region ranged from -5.5°C in Shopian to -2.1°C in Kulgam.
