‘Chose 370 over Operation Sindoor’: BJP aghast over resolutions passed by JKNC

Leader of Opposition in the Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, issued a sharp rebuke to the Jammu Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Wednesday, condemning the party for omitting any mention of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the role of Indian security forces in their latest set of resolutions.

In a video statement, Sharma expressed disbelief over JKNC’s Executive Committee passing seven resolutions without acknowledging the sacrifices of security personnel involved in Operation Sindoor. “Our forces displayed extraordinary bravery, and the world took note. Yet JKNC found no space to mention them,” he said.

Sharma criticised the party for failing to condemn Pakistan or address terrorism, despite the loss of 26 innocent lives in the Pahalgam attack. “There’s not a word about Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. What kind of leadership is this, that stays silent on the enemy and the victims?” he questioned.

He accused JKNC of prioritising political rhetoric—like the restoration of Article 370 and statehood—over national unity. “They’re talking about a special status that doesn’t exist. The Supreme Court has spoken. Article 370 is gone. Period.”

Sharma also denounced the party’s timing, calling it insensitive amid a national security crisis. “They should be at the borders with the people, not inside meeting rooms passing resolutions that ignore the ground reality,” he said.

Calling the resolutions “tone-deaf,” Sharma concluded by reminding JKNC that foreign policy and national security are central subjects, not state matters. “JKNC must stop politicising issues of national concern. Their silence on terrorism and our forces is not just disappointing—it’s dangerous,” he stated.
