The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced a significant increase in the pass percentage for the Class 12 board exams, reaching 74% this year, up from 65% in 2023.
Tis marks a notable increase from the 65% pass rate in 2023, reflecting the dedication of students and educators in the region.
This year, a total of 93,340 students appeared for the exams across various streams, including Science, Commerce, Arts, and Vocational courses. Examinations were conducted from March 6 to March 28, 2024, for soft zones, and from April 8 to May 11, 2024, for hard zones. Students can now access their results on the official JKBOSE website.
Female students have outperformed their male counterparts once again, with a pass percentage of 77%, compared to 72% for boys. This trend of girls surpassing boys continues from last year when girls had a pass rate of 68% and boys 61%.
In 2023, out of 1,27,636 students, 82,441 passed the exams, resulting in a 65% pass rate. A significant number of students also excelled, with 27,272 achieving distinctions and 36,393 earning first division.
In comparison, this year, 25,435 students have secured distinctions, while 33,437 have been awarded first division. The top three positions in all streams—Arts, Commerce, Science, and Home Science—have been claimed by female students, highlighting their continued academic excellence.
The improvement in pass percentage highlights the success of ongoing educational reforms aimed at enhancing the quality of education and support systems for students. This positive trend signifies a bright future for the educational landscape in Jammu and Kashmir.
