
A sudden cloudburst struck the Ghati area of Kathua district on Sunday morning, triggering flash floods and landslides that caused widespread damage to infrastructure.
Several houses were inundated, while the local police station, a portion of the railway track, and stretches of the Jammu–Pathankot National Highway near Janglot were affected.
Traffic movement was severely disrupted as water and debris washed over key routes, leaving parts of the district cut off.
Authorities said that four persons died and six received injuries and a damage to property and infrastructure are substantial
Officials noted that this is the latest in a series of extreme weather events to hit Jammu and Kashmir in recent days.
Just three days ago, a devastating cloudburst in Kishtwar district claimed over 60 lives and left dozens missing after flash floods swept away a pilgrims’ camp in Chositi village.
