In the aftermath of intense cross-border shelling that has rocked parts of Jammu Kashmir’s Poonch and Rajouri districts, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday paid a visit to the district hospital in Poonch to meet civilians wounded in the violence.
The visit comes as the administration steps up its response to the escalating situation along the Line of Control, which has seen heavy exchanges of fire over the past several days, resulting in injuries and civilian trauma.
Sharing an update via the official Chief Minister’s Office account, Omar expressed admiration for the injured, stating: “It was moving to see the spirit of those recovering in hospital despite the ordeal they’ve endured. They’ve shown immense courage.”
He added that all injured persons had been promised comprehensive medical care and sustained support from the government, aimed at aiding their recovery and rehabilitation.
Authorities have dispatched emergency medical teams and relief units to border areas hit hardest by the shelling, as part of an ongoing effort to provide immediate assistance and restore normalcy.
