A 20-year-old youth died of electrocution while playing cricket in the Durgund area of Sirigufwara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag disrict.
Officials told The Kashmiriyat that a Umer Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Sirigufwara, who was a student of the second year at Degree college Bijbehara was electrocuted while playing a cricket match in Anantnag area on Wednesday morning.
His friends said that Shahid was fielding when the ball was hit for a boundary and he went to collect the ball. “He got in touch with an electric wire and fell unconscious,” they said.
He was rushed to the District hospital of Anantnag, however, upon his arrival at the hospital he was declared ‘brought dead’ by the doctors, officials said.
