Heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir has caused widespread disruption to mobile and internet services in the region. At least five optical fiber links in the Jammu-Srinagar region were damaged due to landslides, affecting connectivity across the valley.
According to Jio officials, who spoke to The Kashmiriyat, the damaged links are located at Muggal road, Manali, NH 44, and Pathankot old bridge.
The company is working to restore connections, with at least one link expected to be restored for 2G speed by evening, an official told The Kashmiriyat.
The disruption has caused panic in the valley, with many residents complaining about the lack of internet and mobile services.
Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken to social media to address the issue.
Still struggling with almost nonexistent communication. There is a trickle of data flowing on Jio mobile but no fixed line WiFi, no browsing, almost no apps, things like X open frustratingly slowly, WhatsApp struggles with anything more than short text messages. Haven’t felt this…

According to reports, The Ministry of Communications has directed telecom operators to activate Intra Circle Roaming (ICR) in Jammu and Kashmir to mitigate the disruption.
This measure is expected to provide some relief to residents and help restore communication services.
The prolonged connectivity outage has added to the hardships faced by residents, who are already struggling due to torrential rain and landslides.
Restoration work is underway, and efforts are being made to normalize services at the earliest.
