In a rare scene, Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel undertook repairs of a dilapidated stretch of vital Sopore to Kupwara bypass road to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
As the stretch was prone to accidents, the cops from Amargrah Police Station in Sopore filled up potholes on the busy bypass to avoid accidents.
The cops said that they took up the repairs because the dilapidated stretch was prone to accidents and was hampering smooth vehicular movement.
“Since it is a busy route, we did it for the convenience of general public. Till the concerned department makes permanent repairs, we thought it would be good to help as these spots were accidental spots,” said a cop Umar Ahmed.
Meanwhile, the commuters appreciated the move and stated that the road had been giving them tough time.
They said that the concerned department is not doing the work properly which is forcing others to do their jobs.
“When the concerned authorities are in slumber and don’t do their work properly, others have to pitch in. These cops are not meant for it, but now they are doing the repair works,” said a commuter. (KNS)
