After completion of construction work, in the last two years, the huts and bathrooms at Margan Top, a famous destination, around 75 km from Anantnag t have turned into livestock sheds.
Kokernag Development Authority had spent crores of amount on the Margan Top project by constructing huts and bathrooms, last year for tourists and travelers but all of them have turned defunct now and are used as sheds for the livestock.
As per officials, the project had cost an amount of almost 3 crores. The project included creating staying arrangements for tourists and travelers, but these huts are in shambles now, even before they were used.
In this regard, The Kashmiriyat talked to some tourists and locals, who told us that they face immense problems during the rainy season due to unavailability of basic facilities.
The tourists also told us that although the authorities had built the huts and bathrooms, no caretakers were hired. The huts are in shambles and the bathrooms are without water supply, much to the disappointment of tourists.
The newly constructed bathrooms have been turned into livestock sheds by the Bakerwals. Meanwhile, most of the tin sheds have been toppled off by the winds. The huts are about to collapse.
Locals have appealed to the administration to investigate the expenditure spent on the project and maintain the accommodations for tourists.
However, when we tried to approach CEO Kokernag Development Authority, he remained unavailable for comments.
