The Covid 19 infection is showing a massive upsurge in Jammu Kashmir, despite the authorities taking full-fledged measures to stop its furthering. On Saturday, nine deaths have been reported from Jammu Kashmir, eight in the valley and one in Jammu region.
Hospital officials told The Kashmiriyat that nine more people, who had been tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic died of the virus, mounting the death toll to 305.
523 people were tested positive for the novel coronavirus infections taking the count to 17305. These include 145 persons from Srinagar, Baramulla 18, Kulgam 6, Shopian 11, Anantnag 20, Kupwara 10, Pulwama 62, Budgam 56, Bandipora 30, Ganderbal 9, Jammu 66, Kathua 27, Rajouri 16, Udhampur 2, Ramban 9, Samba 2, Poonch 4, Kishtwar 10 and Reasi 2.
Five patients who died include a 70-year-old woman from Safa Kadal, Srinagar, a 60-year-old man from Peerbagh, Srinagar, a 75-year-old man from Rawal Pora, Srinagar, a 48-year-old woman from Kantbagh, Baramulla and a 72-year-old man from Brain Nishat.
283 people in Kashmir and 22 in Jammu have died so far due to the Covid-19, an official posted at SKIMS told The Kashmiriyat.
The Administration led by Lieutenant Governor has appealed the general public to follow the norms to fight the novel pandemic, Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu also asked people to maintain physical distancing and wear masks.
Meanwhile, the cases continue to see a spike and the current tally is at 17,305 positive cases, 7483 cases are active, while 9517 persons have been recovered so far.
The number of positive cases in India has crossed 13.4 Lakhs, while the death toll has reached 31,358. Nearly 50,000 people have been tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours in India. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases.
As per John Hopkins, Globally more than 1,59,85,274 cases have been reported while as the death toll has reached 6,43,581.
