A day after the lieutenant Governor led administration decided to continue the lockdown in four districts of Jammu Kashmir including Srinagar and Jammu, the district administration of Kulgam and Anantnag have said lockdown will continue in these two districts.
The Lockdown in the erstwhile state was imposed on the 28th of April amid a heavy surge in the covid 19 cases. The highest number of deaths since the pandemic began were recorded on Saturday.
People are strictly adhering to the lockdown and the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization, however many people have pointed fingers at the administration when they opened the tulip garden for tourists and conducted many tourism events when Corona had just begun to spread.
In the Kulgam district, the district administration along with the local Police have worked tirelessly making announcements in the nooks and the corners of the district asking people to adhere to the covid protocols.
The Masjid commitees in various parts of the district are providing oxygen cylinders and concentrators to the people who are in dire need of the same.
In Annatnag, amid a pin drop silence, the district administration and the Local Police have ensured the hassle-free movement of the essential services and Journalists in the district. “Patrols have been easened for jouralists and people providing essential services including milkmen, bakers and others are not being troubled anywhere by the Police,” a local told The Kashmiriyat.
Meanwhile various NGOs and trusts from the district are providing various facilities to those in need, including food items, oxygen concentrators and essential services for women.

On Saturday, as a pin drop silence was observed across the valley, huge crowds of people were seen at the airport in Srinagar which evoked massive criticism.
Later on Saturday, the administration ordered the extension of lockdown till 7 am on Thursday, 6 May 2021 in the 4 districts of Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam and Jammu, while on Sunday morning the district administration of Kulgam and Anantnag said that the lockdown will continue till further orders.
Taking to his Twitter, the deputy commissioner of Kulgam, Mr. Bilal Bhat wrote, “Corona Curfew- Kulgam District Kulgam will continue with the existing level of measures, which are in place since 28 April. So corona curfew continues till further orders

while his counterpart in Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla also announced the lockdown extension on Twitter. He wrote, “Anantnag will CONTINUE with the existing level of measures, which are in place since 28 April. So corona curfew continues till further orders.”
