COVID-19: Positivity rate declines, recovery graph improves in north Kashmir

In a significant development, northern districts of Kashmir have witnessed a dip in positive rage while was recovery graph has improved a lot in the 15 days, official figures revealed on Monday.

Figures available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), suggest that the northern districts of Kashmir reported a total of 7,607 cases while 7,579 patients recovered successfully besides the districts registered the deaths of 74 Covid positive persons.

The northern belt of Kashmir comprises three border districts including Bandipora, Baramulla, and Kupwara of which Baramulla has been most affected while Bandipora has registered the lowest number of cases and deaths with a significant recovery rate maintained for long now.

In the recent Covid guidelines government placed Bandipora among the orange zone district.

According to the figures available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the three north Kashmir districts reported a total of 7,607 positive cases of which 3,437 were registered in Baramulla, 2,632 in Kupwara and only 1,538 cases in Bandipora while a total of 7,579 positive patients recovered from the virus besides 74 died between May 16 to May 30 in the ensuing month.

Figures reveal that the positivity rate has declined by a huge margin compared to the cases between May 1 to 15.

Baramulla reported a total of 3,437 cases in the past 15 days between May 16 to 30 and successfully registered a total recovery of 3, 834 positive patients while only 36 individuals died due to the virus, reveal the figures.

Baramulla so far registered a total of 21225 cases of which 18210 have recovered and only 258 have died due to the deadly virus, figures read.

About the least affected district Bandipora, figures reveal that the district reported a total of 1,538 cases between 16 to 30 May and 16 deaths while a total of 1,353 Covid positive patients have also recovered during the same period.

The figures state that the Bandiproa district has reported a total of 8402 cases of which 7335 positive patients have recovered from the virus while 90 patients have died so far.

“In Kupwara figures reveal that the frontier most district reported a total of 2,632 positive cases and 22 deaths due to the virus besides a total number of 2,392 patients were cured successfully,” the figures suggest adding that “Kupwara district has reported a total of 11856 cases of which 9828 patients have recovered.”

Figures further read that the cases have started to decline in north Kashmir in the last 15 days as compared to the first week of the ensuing month that had higher positivity and declined recovery rate. The Covid situation has started to come under considerable control after it reported a total of 3,668 COVID-19 positive recoveries with 24 deaths in mid May while only 3,369 had tested positive which was 1,182 cases lower than the cases reported between 3 to 9 May.

Notably, a total of 475,655 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19 up to May 30 in three north Kashmir districts of which 278,181 are in Baramulla, 105,132 in Kupwara and 92342 in Bandipora—(KNO)
