CPI(M) Pays Tributes to July 13 Martyrs

Stating that 13 July commemorated as the day of struggle, safe guard of social justice and human values CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Monday said that this day presently appropriates the struggle for democratic rights in the state of Jammu Kashmir.

Tarigami while paying tribute to 31 July Martyrs said that it is time for people of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh to unitedly strive for their constitutional rights as they have strived earlier.

Terming July 13 as historic event Tarigami in a statement said that the day significant for the future generations who should take inspiration from such event that make way for the struggle of social and political justice.
“The uprising against the tyranny and autocratic rule of Maharaja by the people laid a strong edifice for unifying the people, rising above narrow considerations that finally culminated in initiating a process of their empowerment” Statement said, adding, “The supreme sacrifices by the Martyrs led to the dawning of a new era in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Praising the sacrifices of the people, Tarigami in the statement said that it is by virtue of supreme sacrifices offered by the martyrs that Jammu Kashmir has made significant strides including landmark Agrarian Reforms and other political reforms.

Crediting 13 July Martyrs for founding the “Naya Kashmir” Tarigaimi said that much more is needed to be done to accomplish their (Martyrs) mission. “It was due to the sacrifices of July 13 martyrs which ultimately led a way for ‘Naya Kashmir’ which is notable for its humanistic view of development.”

The historic event of 13 July not only contrived to the political and social systems of Jammu Kashmir but provided a way for women empowerment. “Following the 13 July event besides many reforms the discussions on women empowerment were initiated.”

“The constituent assembly of Jammu Kashmir was also the outcome of the ‘Naya Kashmir’ and Jammu Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 was the outcome of the struggle of the 1931 martyrs.”

Lamenting lack of democratic justices, in the post modern setup Tarigami said that the August 5, 2019 was an unfortunate incident that speaks volumes about the lack of democratic justices in the country.

“BJP government unilaterally abrogated Jammu Kashmir’s special status and downgraded a state with special status into two union territories. Despite repeated assurances, full-fledged statehood is not being restored to Jammu Kashmir,” Statement said

“The Supreme Court verdict is yet awaited on pleas challenging unconstitutional scrapping of Jammu Kashmir’s special status under Article 370.”

Castigating the non democratic plans of BJP ,Tarigami in a statement said that “the present government is relentlessly pursuing a policy to demolish the political significance of July 13 further.”

Statement said that Jammu Kashmir administration’s decision that there will be no holiday on Martyrs’ Day on July 13 is an attempt to distort history. The movement of July 13 Martyrs was peoples movement which reflected the aspirations of the entire population of Jammu Kashmir as the tyrannical regime was equally repressive for people of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh. It was not the struggle of one community or one region.

Mentioning the significance of July 13 incident Tarigami said that it is high time that political parties in Jammu Kashmir rising above ideological difference introspect as what went wrong and unitedly strive for the rights of people of erstwhile state of Jammu Kashmir that would be the best tribute to the Martyrs of July 13, 1931
