CRPF trooper allegedly shoots self at Panthachowk yatra transit camp

A CRPF trooper was injured after allegedly shooting himself inside the Yatra Transit Camp at Pantha Chowk on Sunday morning.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that the incident occurred at around 9:45 a.m., when gunshots were heard from within the camp.

Police teams immediately rushed to the spot and found that CRPF Head Constable Bibhash Chandra Jha of C-62 Battalion, son of Arun Kumar Jha and a resident of Basani in Lakhisarai district, Bihar, had allegedly fired shots on himself, they said.

“The injured trooper was shifted to the Police Control Room (PCR) in Srinagar for treatment,” an official said.

Authorities said the circumstances leading to the incident are being ascertained, and further details will follow.
