Torrential rainfall lashed Jammu Kashmir’s Ramban district early Sunday morning, triggering flash floods and landslides that claimed the lives of three residents and left over a hundred people stranded.
Rescue operations were underway as officials raced to assist those affected.According to authorities, a cloudburst struck Seri Bagna village, killing three individuals, including two brothers identified as Aqib Ahmad and Mohd Saqib.Multiple rescue teams, including local administration and disaster response units, were deployed to the site, where efforts to retrieve people from debris and rising waters continued into the afternoon.The incessant rain also led to a series of landslides and mudslides across nearly a dozen points on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, particularly between Nashri and Banihal.As a precautionary measure, traffic on this critical route was suspended, stranding commuters and disrupting supply lines.Scores of animals are said to have died in the landslideOfficials said the situation remains tense with continuous rainfall posing further risks. They urged residents to stay alert and avoid travel in vulnerable areas until conditions improve.In a post on X, CM_JnK wrote , “Extremely anguished by the tragic landslide and flash flood in Ramban, which have caused considerable damage to life and property.
