Mushtaq Ahmed veeri, a Anantnag-based cleric and an affiliate of Jami’at e Ahli Hadees who was detained in late February 2019 has been released after nearly 20 months of detention.

A relate of Mushtaq Veeri speaking to The Kashmiriyat over the phone confirmed his release.
Veeri was detained last year in February when the Government of India put a ban on various outfits including Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front in the aftermath of the Pulwama Attack and arrested several socio-political activists.
The Government Forces had called many clerics to camps and Police Stations and barred them from leading Friday prayers at several places in South Kashmir.
Veeri, as per Sources, has been released and has reached his home in Veeri arera of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (anantnag) township.
Pertinently another cleric and pro resistance activist, Sarjan Barkati was released from detention after more than four years.
